General Summary
The Employee Relations Specialist is responsible for addressing all employee grievances in a just and equitable manner. The Specialist will develop and administer the employee relations program at the Ventura campus and virtual roles reporting into the Ventura People and Culture team. They are responsible for conducting investigations and providing solutions that have a positive impact on morale and workplace culture. The Specialist must have a demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively at all levels of the organization. They should have a proven track record of designing and conducting positive workplace relations trainings that drive best practices. The Specialist should also be comfortable working in crisis-oriented situations and be a gifted mediator. The Specialist should be capable of creating and executing a strategy across the Ventura campus that is based in data and supports organizational and operational goals and objectives.

What You’ll Do
- Assist in the development, implementation and administration of human resources policies and procedures to ensure compliance with all employment laws.
- Participate in quality assurance activities.
- Effectively document, investigate and resolve employee-related issues. Conduct internal investigations into employee concerns.
- Conduct exit interviews, summarize findings and discuss trends and concerns with the Head of People & Culture and Senior Leadership.
- Craft strategies to resolve personnel issues and minimize the adverse personnel impact of proposed business realignments.
- Ensure that employee matters are handled with consistency, fairness and without discrimination.
- Provide counsel and guidance to managers and associates regarding company policies and procedures.
- Resolve all discrimination charges and grievances as required.
- Partner with legal counsel on lawsuit discovery and litigation preparation.
Who You Are
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, or a related field, or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 5+ years of experience in the Employee Relations field, or the equivalent.
- Expertise in the Human Resources discipline.
- Working knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite and HRIS, preferably Workday.
- Demonstrated experience as a Mediator and Investigator; excellent evaluation, facilitation and conflict resolution skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail, able to juggle and prioritize multiple tasks simultaneously while delivering on commitments.
- Ability to convey ideas and recommendations in a clear, compelling and succinct way in written and verbal communications; can facilitate action and commitment across in-person and remote groups of stakeholders and peer.
- Comfortable in a fast-paced environment, flexible, able to change direction quickly and in leading through both ambiguity and constant change
- Ability to handle confidential information and escalate issues when appropriate.
- Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communications skills.
