Summary
Novartis is currently seeking a passionate and experienced individual to fill the role of Patient Advocacy & Medical Lead. The main purpose of the role will be to focus on optimizing patient access and outcomes by providing up-to-date compound and disease area medical expertise, acting as a key expert in the relevant therapeutic area, to shape and implement the Local and Global Therapeutic Area strategy through innovative integrated evidence generation, engagement on scientific results with internal and external stakeholders, and co-creation with healthcare systems and the scientific community. Another part of this role will be to develop patient advocacy strategy, engage deeply with patient communities, utilizing advocacy, education, and activation to effect positive changes in patient outcomes.

About the Role
Main Responsibilities:
Medical Strategic Plans
- Develop and execute local Medical Affairs strategic plans aligned with other functions, franchise, and medical strategies.
- Identify strategic opportunities and engage with key scientific leaders and healthcare partners to co-design strategies and studies.
- Gather and share relevant insights to shape disease area strategy.
Integrated Evidence Co-development
- Co-develop integrated evidence plans and ensure local execution in partnership with Global Drug Development and other stakeholders.
- Identify Real World Evidence (RWE) needs and utilize innovative methodologies to improve patient and clinical adoption.
- Lead Post Trial Access (PTA) and Managed Access Programs (MAP), evaluate Investigator-Initiated research studies and Trials (IITs), and Research Collaborations (RC).
Medical Expertise Provisions
- Provide medical expertise on pipeline programs, disease areas, and approved brands.
- Raise awareness of Novartis' brands and disease areas through publications, presentations, and educational activities.
- Provide medical expertise and leadership to functional partners in collaboration with various teams.
- Support training activities and regulatory affairs.
Patient Advocacy
- Map and prioritize relevant Patient Advocacy Groups (PAG) based on strategic importance.
- Develop and implement patient advocacy strategies for specified therapeutic areas.
- Collaborate with internal and external teams to support patient advocacy strategies.
- Ensure patient inputs are considered in project design and co-create initiatives with patient groups.
- Implement engagement plans with patient organizations and collaborate with agency partners.
- Use innovative patient engagement channels and enhance patient advocacy efforts.
- Engage with external stakeholders for co-creation opportunities and integrate patient perspective into access and HTA activities.
Represents Medical Practice and Patient Care
- Advocate for the best interest of patients and those who care for them.
Essential Requirements:
- Required Degree: MD or PharmD/PhD in Health Sciences in Health Sciences or related field
- Desired: Specialist Degree or specialist qualification related to discipline for which is responsible. Business degree (e.g. MBA)
- Languages: English and Czech - fluent, written and spoken
- Pharmaceutical industry experience
- Significant clinical and research background, including GCP knowledge
- Strong medical and scientific knowledge across various disease areas
- Excellent planning and organizational skills
- Strong business acumen
- Exceptional communication skills and customer orientation
- Proficient in medical and scientific writing
- Preferred experience in innovative study designs, such as RCT/RWE mixed designs
- Preferred experience in implementation science
- Proven track record of co-creation and co-execution of protocols with stakeholders in healthcare systems
