Job Description


Assists in overseeing, maintaining, monitoring, and evaluating the environment of care including the emergency management program. Provides consultation, support, and guidance for all facilities, as needed.


Job Responsibility


  • Implements hazard surveillance to provide and maintain a safe, comfortable, and functional environment for patients, visitors, and employees in accordance with Federal, State, Local, and Accreditation Standards.

  • Surveys facilities, grounds, departments, laboratories and buildings to ensure safety and radiation safety practices are adhered to.

  • Inspects construction sites and equipment to ensure safety compliance.

  • Responds to safety incidents, emergencies, occupational injuries, and hazards.

  • Conducts on-site investigations; submits written report on incident/emergency catalyst.

  • Instructs personnel and makes recommendations for preventing future occurrences.

  • Conducts and participates in drills and exercises designed to practice procedures for fire, disaster, or other emergencies.

  • Evaluates staff performance during drills, and makes improvement recommendations.

  • Submits written reports/critique of drill evaluation to applicable Committees, Departments, Services, and personnel.

  • Assists in in-service education/training classes, including providing Safety and emergency management information, demonstrates use of equipment, and discussion of policies, procedures and regulations.

  • Conducts orientation for new employees, students, volunteers.

  • Gathers data and assists in preparing reports for the Safety Committee and other hospital committees.

  • Collaborates with hospital personnel and representatives from regulatory agencies and accreditation organizations to develop and maintain policies and procedures related to Safety and Environmental Compliance.

  • Accompanies officials on tours, surveys, inspections of facilities, buildings, services, departments, laboratories, etc.

  • Assists in the coordination and management of departmental operations including Safety and Emergency Management services.

  • Operates under limited guidance and work assignments involve moderately complex to complex issues where the analysis of situations or data requires in-depth evaluation of variable factors.

  • Job Qualification


    • Bachelor's Degree required, or equivalent combination of education and related experience.

    • 3-5 years of relevant experience, required.
