Our Commerce, CA location is seeking a Test Technician 2/3. NG, Commerce is the leading supplier of pressure vessels and tank hardware to the aerospace industry.
Job Summary
This is a Test Technician position supporting the Pressure, Flow, and Dynamic Load Test functions at
NG, Commerce. The test engineering group performs physical and mechanical verification of spaceflight hardware fabricated for aerospace applications.
Primary responsibilities of the position are as follows:
Handling, Setup, and Testing of aerospace hardware, primarily consisting of pressure vessel assemblies
Perform test fixture setup and validation.
Support all qualification and acceptance testing of tank hardware, including pressure and flow tests.
Support physical and/or static load tests and document into customer deliverable reports.
Support execution of environmental testing, including test setup, filling and draining of hardware, pressurization, test environment application, and test break down.
Assist vendors with safe handling and processing of pressure vessel hardware
Support continuous improvement and lean initiative tasks including current state process definition, identification of non-value-added activity and future state planning.
Communicate with internal management and customers related to Test execution.
Basic Qualifications
Test Technician (Level 2) High School Diploma with +2 years of experience.
Principal Test Technician (Level 3) High School Diploma with 5 years of experience.
Knowledge using test instrumentation (pressure, temperature, strain), test execution and troubleshooting, and electronic data acquisition.
Strong mechanical assembly capability / expertise
Problem solving skills utilizing superior mechanical ability, the ability to multitask, and prioritize work are required.
Proficient in Microsoft office applications (Word, Access and Excel) to document results.
Basic mathematical aptitude (basic algebra, fractions, exponents)
Ability to read, write and interpret written instructions, blueprints, or shop drawings in English.
Demonstrated ability to learn new skills and follow written procedures.
Must be able to work within established procedures for data control.
Excellent documentation, organization and communication skills.
Initiative, self-starter, adaptable, and high motivation for excellence.
Strong attention to detail, self-motivated, excels in a team environment.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in handling and testing pressurized flight hardware.
2-5 years' experience in Test Engineering or Test Lab environment.
2-4 year Technical Degree or related field (e.g. auto, A&P Mechanic)
Salary Range: $50,000.00 - $83,300.00Salary Range 2: $59,300.00 - $98,900.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
