Position Overview:
As a Staff Systems Engineer you will be developing and sustaining systems using current technologies and others yet to come. We are seeking individuals who have a thirst for knowledge, approach each day with optimism, and have a relentless drive to solve complex problems. The Advanced Programs organization pushes the boundaries of innovation, redefines engineering capabilities, and drives advances in mathematics. Our team is chartered with providing innovative technologies to develop, design, and produce optimized product lines across multiple customers while providing a decisive advantage to the warfighter.
Essential Functions:
The selected candidate will be the point of contact for aspects of systems engineering with a focus on managing and leading agile processes for the program. The responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following:

Implement and manage Agile practices across all AP 2025 IRAD projects
* Plan, coordinate, lead program increments across all AP 2025 IRAD projects
* Manage workflows 1) within teams, 2) between teams, and 3) across work centers using Jira Scrum and Kanban boards
* Increase throughput by identifying constraints, mitigate dependencies causing bottlenecks, and reducing wait time
* Identify opportunities to standardize recurring processes
* Schedule and lead program increment (PI) planning and backlog reviews
* Experience with managing and pruning backlog
* Facilitate project leads with time phasing milestones and develop/map epics, features, stories to milestones
* Creates Confluence and Jira templates for project leads
* Coordinate multiple agile teams to ensure alignment with agile practices
* Drive continuous improvement by enhancing processes, removing impediments, and optimizing value delivery
* Act as a key liaison between teams and stakeholders to help navigate organizational challenges
* Foster a culture of respect and psychological safety to enable collaboration among individuals on the train
* Experience with Lean and Scaled Agile Framework approaches
* Understand project budget and how budgeting works within an agile environment
* Transition mature teams from Waterfall to Agile
* Create metrics beneficial to managing project progress and identifying efficiencies and inefficiencies
* Derive and allocate requirements into detailed design.
* Oversees and manages the engineering design, development of software, systems, and hardware engineering.
* Drives the engineering process development, continuous improvement, and affordability initiatives within their program.
* Communicates regularly with program management, customers, and engineering management.
* Coordinates with HW/SW team to perform retests and regression tests once defects are corrected.
* Generates applicable documentation.
* Provides problem resolution and improvement recommendations with strong time management skills.
* Minimal (10%) travel to NG and Government locations within U.S.
Seeking candidates who find satisfaction in working on challenging and diverse assignments in collaborative settings across all levels.
Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline from an accredited university and 12 years of related experience, or a Master's Degree and 10 years of experience, or a PhD and 8 years of experience.
* Excellent technical writing skills for generating analysis and reports.
* Knowledge of a requirements management tool (i.e. DOORS).
* Experience with MS Office suite of tools (i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project)
* Ability and willingness to travel up-to 10% to support business needs
* Applicants must have a current active in-scope U.S. Government DoD issued Secret security clearance at the time of application and is required to start.
Preferred Qualifications:

Masters degree in Physics, Engineering, Computer Science, Math or related discipline.
* A current active in-scope U.S. Government DoD issued TS/SCI clearance
* Experience in modeling tools (preferably Rhapsody or Cameo).
* Experience in using a requirements management tool, such as DOORS to update and write system level requirements.
* Experience with SysML, UML.
* Experience in programs using the Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) methodology.
Salary Range: $171,000 - $256,400
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
