Be a founding member of Robinhood’s Systems Engineering team. In this role, you’ll be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining the technical infrastructure and operational frameworks that support the company's products and services. Your work will require a meticulous approach to system architecture, integration, and validation.
As a Staff Systems Engineer, you will drive end-to-end ownership of system design, from requirements gathering to testing and deployment, ensuring the health and sustainability of our applications, systems, tooling and processes. This is a unique opportunity to help define and establish systems engineering practices at Robinhood, contributing to groundbreaking innovations and long-term platform stability.

What You’ll Do:
- Define Systems Architecture: Develop robust and scalable systems designs, ensuring safety, reliability, and fault tolerance across Robinhood’s financial platform.
- End-to-End Ownership: Take ownership of the entire systems engineering lifecycle, from requirements definition and architecture to verification, validation, and deployment.
- Safety-Critical Focus: Implement rigorous testing frameworks, failure analysis, and risk mitigation strategies to ensure the highest levels of safety and reliability.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with engineering, product, and operations teams to align on system requirements, define interfaces, and develop solutions that meet our enterprise risk standards.
- Develop Processes and Tools: Create and refine processes for requirements tracking, systems integration, and verification, ensuring a repeatable and high-quality approach to safety-critical development.
- Iterative Prototyping: Rapidly prototype and test new concepts, integrating learnings into scalable solutions that align with the broader system architecture.
- Continuous Improvement: Monitor system performance, conduct post-deployment reviews, and lead efforts to improve reliability and scalability over time.
What You Bring:
- Experience: 7+ years in Systems Engineering or related roles.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in distributed systems (sys architecture, distributed systems and failure modes); some coding experience required.
- Process Implementation: Experience with system process implementation and complex system validation.
- Problem Solving Skills: Proven ability to troubleshoot complex systems issues and implement effective solutions.
- Leadership: Strong communication and collaboration skills, with experience leading technical projects or initiatives.
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.

Base pay for the successful applicant will depend on a variety of job-related factors, which may include education, training, experience, location, business needs, or market demands. The expected salary range for this role is based on the location where the work will be performed and is aligned to one of 3 compensation zones. This role is also eligible to participate in a Robinhood bonus plan and Robinhood’s equity plan. For other locations not listed, compensation can be discussed with your recruiter during the interview process.
