Northrop Grumman's Aeronautics Systems (NGAS) sector has an opening for a Platform Avionics Integration Lead (Manager 3) for a new program within Multi-Domain Command and Control (MDC2), a sub-IPT within the of the Global Surveillance Division part of the Aeronautics Sector. This role is located in Melbourne, Florida.
Reporting functionally to the Director of Avionics Integration - East and programmatically to the Platform Engineering Director, this role will support a new program in the MDC2 business unit to perform technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for the product. The Avionics Lead will be responsible for the technical oversight of all Avionics Integration (AVI) activities and will ensure that the program and program suppliers adhere to sound engineering principles in the development, production, test and sustainment of products. They will ensure work products are thorough, of a high quality, and are compliant with project contract requirements, and NGAS processes, and procedures.
The successful candidate will demonstrate strong leadership skills including the ability to work effectively in a team environment and possess effective communication and presentation skills to all levels.
Additional responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

Ensures the logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements / drawings into requirements and drawing systems to control the Avionics configuration

* Acts as a key approver for program and technical review boards representing Avionics Engineering requirements including Suppliers, highlighting impacts and risk to the Avionics scope of work

* Overall execution, staffing, performance and reporting on cost, schedule, & technical statuses

* Develop AVI metrics to support program and technical status

* Working in conjunction with the Chief Engineer (CE) to support a robust Risk and Opportunity program (provide Avionics risks, and impacts, and work planning, and mitigation with the team)

* Work with all Avionics Supplier responsible REs to understand Supplier technical / influence on program plan

* Serve as a Cost Account Manager (CAM) and oversee all AVI CAMS to support the IPT PM, ensuring proper planning and execution within an established cost and schedule baseline

* Generate Basis of Estimates (BOEs) in support of future proposal efforts and coordinate approval and associated reviews

* Apply agile processes to support program/task, and develop and prioritize assignment of tasks to be performed by Avionics Integration team

* Support Supplier and program deep dives

* Responsible for AVI technical and cost inputs for all new proposals and Engineering Change Proposals (ECPs) and approval coordination

* Establish, maintain, and ensure adherence to functional process and procedures

* Supports/identifies/Updates R&O definition and mitigation discussion

* Manage AVI function staffing for the program, coordination for new Req / hiring, provide personnel allocations

* Perform team performance management tasks such goal setting, providing feedback, coaching, mentoring, rewards and recognition

* Collaborate with FHR management on team member professional development including training needs

Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline and 9 years of related engineering experience; OR a Master's degree in a STEM discipline and 7 years of related engineering experience

* Experience working Avionics system and subsystem development, integration, and test (preferably in a Digital Engineering Environment)

* Strong technical understanding of mission systems (radars, flight avionics, data displays and controls, mission computing, communications).

* Prior leadership experience with ability to a lead cross-functional Avionics Engineering team in technical decision making

* Experience in technical and resource planning, risk management, and project performance addressing cost, schedule, and technical quality including supplier oversight

* CAM/EVMS experience

* Must have an active DoD Secret (or higher) clearance (with a background investigation within the past 6 years or enrolled into Continuous Evaluation)

* Must be able to obtain and maintain DoD Top Secret clearance (Interim TS required to start)

* Your ability to transfer and maintain the final adjudicated government Secret clearance and obtain and/or transfer and maintain the final adjudicated government Top Secret clearance any program access(es) required for the position within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company.

Preferred Qualifications:

Master's degree in a related STEM field and/or MBA

* Understanding of NGAS Sector Engineering procedures

* Current DoD Top Secret/SCI Security Clearance

* Demonstrated experience in managing and technical development of Aircraft programs

* Experience with requirements definition, derivation, and management

* Experience in SOW / CDRL decomposition and program traceability for AI products

* Experience with the NAVAIR SETR process 4355.19E for design events (such as SRR, PDR, FCA, etc.)

* Experience developing and managing Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) elements on a large system development-type contract or full responsibility for all aspects of program performance on a large contract

Salary Range: $161,500 - $242,300
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
