Duty & Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain observability solutions using tools like Prometheus, Grafana, and ELK Stack to ensure system health and performance are continuously monitored.
  • Write automation scripts and tools to improve operational efficiency, reduce manual intervention, and enhance reliability.
  • Participate in incident response efforts, diagnosing issues and implementing solutions to maintain service availability.
  • Set up and maintain monitoring systems to track performance metrics and identify potential issues proactively.
  • Assist in proposing and implementing improvements to existing processes and tools to enhance system reliability and observability.

Key Competencies:

  • Knowledge of service monitoring and logging tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, ELK Stack).
  • Proficiency in automation tools and scripting languages such as Python, Bash, or Go.
  • Familiarity with incident management systems (PagerDuty) and chaos engineering principles.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a commitment to building reliable and scalable systems.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • 3+ years of experience in software engineering, with a focus on observability, reliability, and DevOps.

As a Software Engineer II within Nike's SRE team, you will focus on ensuring the reliability and observability of our digital systems. You'll work closely with cross-functional teams to develop comprehensive monitoring solutions, automate operational tasks, and manage incident response efforts.
