MANAGER, REVENUE ACCOUNTING LATAM

WHO YOU WILL WORK WITH

Reporting to the LatAm Controller, this role is a critical finance partner for the NIKE LatAm territories (Mexico as owned and operated, and Central & South America as distributor model) and the APLA Revenue Accounting geography. You will lead and guide the territory revenue accounting team (2 Sr Accountants) and have interactions with various LatAm stakeholders, working closely to the LatAm Financial Planning, Costumer Finance and Record to Report Shared Delivery teams.

As the LatAm Revenue Accounting Manager, you'll be part of a high-performing team that is driving Nike's international business growth through the APLA Geography. While mastering and executing the fundamentals will be critical, your ability to operate in a very dynamic environment, work effectively and build trust with a variety of internal stakeholders will also be crucial. This role plays a critical part in enabling new marketplace strategies across LatAm, as well as in driving operational excellence with how we support and enable the business. We are looking for someone who is a self-starter, highly organized and able to drive collaborative relationships with cross-functional business partners.

In this role you will thrive in a dynamic environment, be an expert in problem solving, have a continuous improvement attitude, and will be comfortable working within a highly sophisticated marketplace and digital / technology landscape. Success in this role will result in informed business decisions, process excellence, optimized financial control and financial statement accuracy related to LatAm Revenue and Receivables.

In this role you will report directly to the LatAm Controller, and lead a team of 2 Sr Accountants based in Mexico City, Mexico.

WHAT YOU WILL WORK ON

  • Apply APLA Controlling guidance regarding revenue and marketplace related accounting policies
  • Capture and deliver measurable value through business partnership, including performing technical research on accounting issues and consulting with business partners on key topics
  • Work closely with Financial Planning and Customer Finance teams to understand financial statement impact of Marketplace-related items, inform the quarterly forecasts, and ensure LatAm alignment prior to close
  • Support on designing and implementing effective controls to manage financial reporting risk across the LatAm revenue and marketplace processes
  • Provide timely accounting positions, financial insights and operational considerations to enable informed decision making
  • Monitor standardized, scalable and controlled revenue & receivable accounting processes and transactions aligned with global policies
  • Perform the Revenue Accounting monthly and quarterly financial statement close process according to US GAAP
  • Drive operational excellence through the identification and operationalization of simplification, standardization, and automation opportunities for direct revenue accounting processes
  • Ensure new marketplace strategies / business models are effectively set up and validated, with complete, accurate and well controlled financial reporting

You will bring

  • A minimum of 7 years of experience in accounting, finance or related functions & Certified Public Accountant (CPA), or the equivalent, is required
  • Knowledge and application of US GAAP (ASC 606) is required
  • Experience with ERP accounting and finance systems such as SAP or Oracle is required
  • Experience with a Fortune 500/multinational consumer products company is preferred
  • Fluent in both English and Spanish is preferred
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills & a proven ability to communicate complex and/or controversial topics and concepts to a wide and diverse audience, including meeting facilitation and presentations with senior leadership teams
  • High standards for quality and advanced ability to handle multiple, competing priorities and requests
  • People management experience is desired
  • Experience working with a managed service provider is a plus
  • Ability to pass a 7-year background check
