WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR
As part of our North America Soccer Sports Marketing team, the Soccer Field Rep will execute on the strategic vision for NA Soccer, elevating athlete service, athlete integration, and development of our Soccer Portfolio. You'll leverage athlete and industry insights and partner with the brand and business to develop marketing plans, while ensuring product, service, marketing, and contractual fulfilments are met for all athletes and partners.
You will also make recommendations and decisions to shape the future of our Soccer Sports Marketing portfolio, aligned to the vision and strategy of the Soccer Sports Marketing team, across professional, youth and NIL. The ideal candidate will be an inclusive, collaborative, strategically minded, highly effective teammate and be able to operate and drive clarity in a dynamic environment through critical thinking and problem-solving.
The candidate is expected to have a deep understanding of the game of Soccer in all its different levels, including but not limited to player development, talent identification, athlete's pathways, and products or support needed for an athlete's success. The candidate is also expected to have experience around contracts management and contracts negotiation.
- Bachelor's degree or combination of relevant education, experience, and training
- 5+ plus years proven experience in Sports Marketing, Brand Marketing, or closely related field
- Proven ability to develop meaningful relationships that drive and achieve business objectives in conventional and innovative ways
- True passion, understanding, and interest in Soccer
- Knowledge of the Soccer landscape across Youth Clubs, Academies, Youth National Teams, Senior National Teams, MLS, NWSL and all major leagues/clubs around the world
- Portfolio management, critical thinking, and negotiation skills
- Ability to exercise independent judgement and decision making and communicate in a compelling manner to internal/external partners
- Enterprise thinking, end-to-end business knowledge, and organizational and operational excellence
- Ability to prioritize work and act with a key sense of urgency
Preferred:
- Familiarity with the brand marketing and sports marketing functions at NIKE
- Established network of athlete, agent, coach, and industry contacts
- Proven ability to identify and evaluate talent
- Proficiency in MS Office, Keynote, and Nike systems
WHAT YOU'LL WORK ON
You will report to the Senior Director of Soccer Sports Marketing in NA, work alongside the broader Soccer Sports Marketing Team. Additionally, you will work with Soccer Brand, Social Community Impact, Product Innovation, Marketplace, and Product Merchandising teams to ensure Sports Marketing efforts are in service of brand and business objectives. Externally you will work with athletes, agents, coaches, scouts and team personnel among others.
Key Deliverables:
- Support the creation and Execute the players strategy.
- Lead and Facilitate process of seek, sign, re-sign Soccer athletes in the USA and Canada.
- Partner with the strategic planner and operations lead to ensure investment is aligned to priorities.
- Facilitate and lead contract management, mediation, development and execution of athletes' endorsements.
- Drive best practices for scouting models and end to end processes in search of future Soccer talent in NA, from Professional level to youth, including all the different universes that currently exist in NA. Ensure that across all national teams Nike wins with the best.
- Partner with Athlete service team and SM football brand experience lead to ensure our players have the most premium service model, are exposed the best brand experiences and are aligned with the Soccer brand direction.
- Partner with Brand and Business teams to leverage our Soccer athletes in the most effective way, supporting both the growth of the business as the development of athlete's individual images and careers.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Athlete plans and player invest/divest player strategy.
- Talent identification, reports and control of players information, contract execution with agents and Nike legal.
- Portfolio management and strategic plan alignment with business manager.
- Coordinate with geo partners in NA, Canada and EMEA on servicing through the different athletes tiers.
- Scouting network and talent identification channels.
- Travel to priority locations and players to build and foster relationships.
- Support the asks from Brand and Business for athletes leveraging/integration in the most timing and professional way.
- Execute the budget with accountability around accurate forecasting and communication.
- Lead with collaboration, a growth mindset, and remain passionate about key priorities.
