The Concept Engineer Lead will own the technical oversight of the concept engineering team, leverage their expertise, and clearly communicate their vision. They work within the Nike CCC innovation space in collaboration with the NXT design, development, materials, and digital teams to accelerate timelines and meet Nike innovation program goals.

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

This highly collaborative individual will put the role's know-how first, leveraging deep technical expertise in footwear technologies and program knowledge.

The Lead Concept Engineer performs Program-level duties, including handling projects, diagnosing/resolving problems through pattern and footwear engineering, and ensuring that the benefits intended from a program's scope are met.

With their extensive knowledge in footwear pattern making, engineering, and manufacturing knowledge,

they will be a technical adviser and mentor to those on the Concept Engineering team and others within their NXT peer groups.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provides technical guidance and support to the program and its management team.
  • Responsible for the creation of new footwear patterns.
  • Oversee engineering activities and work with others to identify, recommend and implement new solutions or alternative processes that improve efficiency and productivity (function).
  • Ensure the repeatability of the concept within Nike standards.
  • Aid in additional design revision of new concepts.
  • Address complex engineering issues relating to patterns and manufacturing processes.
  • Partner with designers, developers, and factory partners to develop technical drawings and BOM specifications.
  • Maintains strategic alignment between programs and the organization.
  • Trains and oversees associate engineers.
  • Interfaces with the senior stakeholders.
  • Acts as supervisor in the managers absence.

REQUIREMENTS: WORK EXPERIENCES & EDUCATION

  • Bachelor/Master's degree in industrial design or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 8+ years relevant work experience in Footwear engineering, development.
  • Nike product process experience preferred.
  • Experience leading and developing engineering teams in the development of a single product, product function and/or product improvement/optimization effort.
  • Ability to build strong relationships with other functions of the organizations.
  • Strong capacity for leading change, dealing with ambiguity, and providing creative solutions and influencing multi-discipline teams with data, scientific reasoning, and strong coaching skills.
  • Possess a clear understanding of product construction concepts including, Pattern Engineering, costing/quality implications, model making, part drawings, 2D drafting documentations, materials, design for manufacturing, sustainability awareness.
  • Proficient in 2D CAD patterning and design software. Preferably - Dimensions, Illustrator, Mind CAD 2D for footwear
  • Proficient in 3D CAD modelling software. Preferably - Rhino, Mind CAD 3D for footwear
