WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

We need a Lead 3D Modeler to join our team at Nike's Product Management Office in Taichung City, Taiwan. Part of Nike's digital evolution hinges on the ability of the global 3D production modeling team to create and oversee the creation of photorealistic footwear models. Our best lead modelers are technically & artistically minded, strong communicators, highly organized, and expert with a breadth of digital tools while ambitious to learn new programs and techniques. They collaborate on high profile objectives, efficiently problem solve, and enthusiastically oversee global modeling efforts as needed.

WHAT WILL YOU WORK ON?

You will act in support of production management in a Lead role of senior level teammates based in the Taiwan PMO and additional Asia PMO's. You will lead regional standardization, training, mentorship, and quality control of global footwear production by 3D modeling teams based at external partners. You will review models completed by others, provide feedback, identify gaps in expertise and work with the artists to improve skills. You will ensure models meet technical and aesthetic standards and influence partners in the use of digital tools through the footwear creation process. You will identify gaps or inefficiencies in workflows and aid in the development of tools or processes to streamline production and reduce lead times. You will designate time to regularly visit and work at external team locales. You will present the work to others as needed and professionally represent the team.

You will also utilize your expert polygonal 3D modeling skills coupled with detailed technical inputs to contribute to the creation of product accurate 3D footwear models that reflect Nike technical guidelines. You will ensure consistency and quality across a large volume of assets while taking and applying feedback in a timely and iterative manner. You will self-manage project resources and track project status to keep the team updated on progress.

WHO WILL YOU WORK WITH?

You will work on the Consumer Product Brand Marketing Operations(CPBMO) production studio team alongside other world class 3D modelers, material artists, visualization artists, and producers. You will report to 3D production studio management located at Nike World Headquarters in the United States while embedded in the Taiwan PMO CPBMO team. You will be assisting with oversite of additional teammates located at the Taiwan PMO and other Asia PMO's. You will meet with both regional and global digital partners, footwear product, and technology stakeholders. You will also collaborate process and workflows with global footwear 3D design teams.

WHAT YOU BRING TO NIKE

• 6 years' experience successfully delivering 3D models in VFX, gaming, product or similar studios OR 3 years' experience working with Nike 3D teams
• Bachelor's degree in Design/Art, 3D Art, Game Design or related field preferred
• Expertise in footwear manufacture process inclusive of digital and physical methods of make
• Excellent interpersonal communication and collaboration skills; Bilingual in native language and English
• Expert in polygonal modeling techniques; Modo experience highly preferred
• Expert understanding of procedural workflows
• Expert understanding of form, topology, and UV unwrapping
• Expert knowledge of 3D software general use
• Highly proficient knowledge of pipeline workflow
• Proficient knowledge of applying colors & materials in Substance Painter
• Proficient understanding of scripting tools for 3D workflows
• Working knowledge of simulation
