Lead Character Artist

We are seeking a skilled Lead Character Artist to join our team and bring their expertise to create unforgettable experiences for our customers. We're looking for someone who is passionate about characters and creatures and has proven ability in crafting high-quality, detailed assets for real-time or offline environments. You'll be a forward-thinking artist, dedicated to producing exceptional work.

What you'll be doing:

  • Design and implement high-quality, believable 3D characters and assets.
  • Conceptualize, model, and texture creative 3D characters and creatures, pushing the boundaries of what's possible in current-gen platforms.
  • Model and texture realistic hard-surface and organic props and set pieces as needed.
  • Own your tasks from start to finish, handling everything from modeling to final engine implementation.
  • Collaborate with the director, art director, and team to ensure characters and assets align with the project's vision and quality standards.
  • Ensure art assets are performant and within memory budgets.
  • Work from concept art, photo reference, and style sheets during asset creation.
  • Build and optimize models for both hard-surface and organic characters.
  • Troubleshoot and optimize assets to maintain performance within frame rate and memory specs.
  • Mentor and lead other artists as required.
  • Partner with engineers and tech artists to build an efficient character art pipeline for rapid iteration and prototyping.
  • Collaborate with artists, designers, and engineers to develop an inspiring vision and ensure creative alignment.
  • Help grow and maintain the art production pipeline.

What we need to see:

  • 12+ years of experience as a senior or lead artist.
  • Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • Proven track record in games, film, or cinematics, with multiple AAA titles shipped.
  • Expertise in physically based rendering (PBR).
  • Mastery of industry-standard software such as 3ds Max, Substance Painter, ZBrush, V-Ray, Unreal Engine 4, etc.
  • A highly creative mindset with an eye for detail.
  • Experience working within engines and implementing 3D assets into real-time environments.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills.
