WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

We are looking for a versatile designer, who has a deep passion for evolving the world of sport through creative expression to help build the future of Nike Accessories - Bags, Socks, Headwear, and Equipment. We want someone with a variety of life and creative experiences, someone who is curious, who wants to think and dream big. A designer who loves to collaborate and problem solve, who understands it's about "we not me". Someone who is flexible and can adapt to changing priorities.

As a Color Designer II at Nike, you will be tasked with elevating the Nike product experience with a focus on both the art & science of Color. In this role, you will drive an emotional connection to color for the athlete and sport, through the use of strategy and storytelling. The Color Designer II brings to life trend-relevant, sport right, and consumer right color direction on a seasonal basis. You will be a color specialist at several levels - - crafting narratives and implementing strategy at the product and detail level. This will require driving color excellence through collaboration with design, business, development and manufacturing.

Color Designer II collaborates on color strategy and color product application by using a variety of skills which include the ability to look at color strategy as it relates to the greater brand as well as technical skills in color technology and how to achieve desired color effects: materials, dyes, finishes and color achievability.

WHAT YOU WILL WORK ON

As an Accessories Color Designer II, you will develop color palettes to link into seasonal narratives and consumer identities, build strong presentation tools, and color line art across a range of Accessories products - Bags, Socks, Headwear and Equipment, to detail the creation of each product. You will research and deliver color, design, market & lifestyle trends that influence and impact the product aesthetic, application, and target audience.

WHO YOU WILL WORK WITH

The first point of contact that you will collaborate with is the Design Triad, consisting of Product Design, Color, Graphics/Print. Layering in Product Line Managers, Merchandising, Color/Material/Trim Development, as well as Tech Development.

WHAT YOU BRING

Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Design or related field or equivalent combination of education, experience, and training.

Experience:

  • Minimum 1-4 years of experience in a design environment working with materials, textiles and/or color trends.
  • Development of products, including coordinating with multiple partners to ensure the accuracy of produced designs a plus.
  • Ability to collaborate with other designers/design directors to build palettes based on category color strategy.
  • Demonstrates a strong understanding of color technology and how to achieve desired color effects: materials, dyes, finishes and color achievability.
  • Ability to provide color design support for design team as needed outside of assigned product load.
  • Ability to plan and implement the product color details and review all samples, troubleshoot for achievability issues and clearly communicate changes in order to ensure timely completion of each project.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Highly proficient in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop) and Keynote on a Mac Platform.
  • Experience in 3D programs such as CLO is a plus.
  • Understanding of apparel or accessories specific product creation process, a plus.
  • Passion for design.
