Role Overview:

We are currently seeking a QA Test Lead to lead our quality assurance practice within the Field Productivity value stream. The value stream is one of 6 within the New York Life's foundational business and consists of 40 plus applications with a portfolio size of $50M.

The QA Test Lead will be responsible for leading the Quality Assurance team to ensure that all products meet quality standards before launch. This role involves defining test strategies, overseeing the execution of test plans, and coordinating with cross-functional teams to identify and resolve issues. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in software testing, leadership experience, and a passion for quality.

What You'll Do:

  • Leadership & Management:
    • Lead and mentor a team of QA engineers, providing guidance and support to enhance their skills and career growth.
    • Coordinate with project managers, developers, and other stakeholders to ensure timely delivery of high-quality products.
    • Foster a culture of continuous improvement within the QA team.
    • Works closely with other leaders within and outside the Value Stream - Product managers, Product Owners, Tech Leads, delivery, and Integration leads to achieve desired results.
  • Test Strategy & Planning:
    • Ensure. high-quality software delivery by planning, implementing, and automating all levels of testing, working in collaboration with C4Es and developers to achieve wholistic test suite leveraging enterprise tools.
    • Define quality standards and metrics for products, ensuring adherence to industry best practices.
    • Identify, track, and resolve quality issues throughout the development lifecycle.
  • Execution & Reporting:
    • Oversee the execution of test cases, including manual and automated testing, to validate product functionality, performance, and reliability.
    • Collaborate with development teams to create and maintain automated test scripts.
    • Analyze test results, generate detailed reports, and present findings to stakeholders including recommended corrective actions.
    • Supports user acceptance testing conducted by business partners or end users.
    • Reviews developer and tester test plans and UAT plans to ensure comprehensive coverage.
    • Track and report on key QA metrics, such as defect density and testing coverage.
  • Process Improvement:
    • Continuously review and enhance QA processes, tools, and methodologies to increase efficiency and effectiveness.
    • Stay current with industry trends and advancements in QA practices and tools.
    • Understands and applies automated testing approaches such as model-based testing or record-and-replay.
    • Defines and champions quality and testing best practices among development teams.
    • Collaborates and shares information with other software QA engineers, e.g., by participating in a community of practice.

What You'll Bring:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related field of study is required.
  • 5+ years of experience in software quality assurance, with at least 2 years in a leadership role.
  • Proven experience with both manual and automated testing.
  • Strong understanding of software development life cycles (SDLC), particularly Agile methodologies.
  • Experience with test management tools (e.g., JIRA, TestRail) and automation frameworks (e.g., MABL, Selenium, JUnit).
  • Experience in performance testing and security testing.
  • Familiarity with DevOps practices and tools.
  • Certification in Quality Assurance (e.g., ISTQB, CSTE).

Pay Transparency

Salary Range: $85,000-$145,000

Overtime eligible: Exempt

Discretionary bonus eligible: Yes

Sales bonus eligible: No

Actual base salary will be determined based on several factors but not limited to individual's experience, skills, qualifications, and job location. Additionally, employees are eligible for an annual discretionary bonus. In addition to base salary, employees may also be eligible to participate in an incentive program.
