Overview

To perform the most complex research and analysis of Navy Federal account activity to identify red flags and suspicious activity in personal and business accounts. Perform in-depth risk reviews and document enhanced due diligence, including activity trend analysis. Maintain knowledge of BSA/AML history, regulations, and industry guidance. Support Business Unit staff in complying with established BSA/AML policies and procedures. Maintain familiarity with typical legal business structures and normal activity by business industry. Work is under limited supervision. To support day-to-day Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) operations, compliance analyses and most complex projects across enterprise in compliance with Navy Federal's BSA/AML & OFAC Compliance Program. To respond to ad-hoc OFAC related queries and provide subject matter expertise to partner business units when applicable. Maintain knowledge of OFAC history, regulations, and industry guidance.

Responsibilities

  • Investigate various types of transactions/activities/cases (Anti-Money laundering, Structuring, fraud etc)
  • Conduct enhanced due diligence on member profiles, including 90-day and high-risk reviews, and recommend ongoing monitoring as needed.
  • Identify PEPs and business' corporate beneficial ownership.
  • Support analysts in assessing member risk ratings and eligibility for continued monitoring and Enhanced Due Diligence (EDD).
  • Analyze account relationships, transactions, and business structures to recommend risk-based actions, escalating suspicious activity when necessary.
  • Assist in preparing reports, including findings and recommendations.
  • Stay updated on industry regulations and best practices related to money laundering, financial crime, and terrorist financing.
  • Monitor timeline from identification/notification of BSA/AML activity to closure, ensuring service level agreements and regulatory requirements are met
  • Create detailed reports of investigations to include actions taken and results, including completing Suspicious Activity Reports (SARs) when appropriate
  • Partner within Anti-Money Laundering functions to support high level investigations requiring SAR submission and documentation
  • Research public record databases to identify, analyze and verify information related to primary investigations, discrepancies associated with information provided, and assess potential risk Analysis
  • Compile, prepare and maintain data for analysis and reference
  • Detect fraud/money-laundering trends, red flags and recommend preventive measures to business units and management
  • Collaborate with other business units to gain an understanding of transactions, processes and procedures, their impact on other business units processes and procedures, and identify risk potential for fraud or other suspicious activity
  • Support projects related to sanctions evasions, fraud or money laundering detection, prevention or root cause analysis

Qualifications

  • Advanced knowledge of applicable federal and state laws, rules and regulations (e.g., Bank Secrecy Act, USA Patriot Act, and OFAC regulations)
  • Experience in leading, guiding and mentoring others
  • Advanced knowledge of fraud and/or money-laundering trends and threats
  • Significant experience in working with all levels of staff, management, stakeholders, vendors
  • Advanced skill following, interpreting, and applying relevant data/instructions to guidelines, procedures, practices, and regulations
  • Advanced verbal and written communications skills
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Criminal Justice, Finance, or related field, or the equivalent combination of education, training, and experience

Desired Qualifications

  • Fraud or AML Certifications: Certified Fraud Examiner, Certified Anti Money Laundering Specialist, etc.

Hours: Monday - Friday, 8:00AM - 4:30PM
