Overview
To manage and oversee Lending Department reporting, analysis and associated functions to ensure credit policy decisions and risk modeling are performing appropriately. Ensure that reporting appropriately measures the risk and business tradeoffs intended. Analyze drivers of existing and emerging risks to Navy Federal Loan portfolios and correlate risk and member behavioral changes with profit/loss scenarios to determine current/future financial impact and optimal recommendations. Manage staff and Supervisor to drive analyses for maximum Lending and credit union objectives.

Responsibilities
- Interpret and validate analytics, scenario results and financial impacts used to inform senior management decisions regarding asset liability management
- Provide leadership and guidance to analytical staff and cross functional teams in the development and implementation of innovative ideas to support business strategy and in formulating actionable, value-adding solutions
- Stay abreast of and ensure compliance with applicable federal, state and industry laws, regulations and guidelines
- Develop and maintain an understanding of relevant industry standards, best practices, business processes and technology used within related business areas to ensure compliance with policy, vendor contractual requirements, procedures, processes and standards
- Assess the reasonableness of modeling approaches and the appropriateness of chosen model variables
- Ensure compliance with internal and external documentation and disclosure requirements
- Manage and lead the efforts to identify and develop innovative, creative and strategic initiatives for systems/process improvements to sustain and improve division operations
- Direct discovery and analysis of existing processes and key controls, and identify future internal control trends or new standards
- Manage the maintenance of databases to achieve efficiencies, reduce operational risk and ensure accurate and timely analysis and reporting
- Oversee timely reporting to support the development of commentary and guidance for senior management
- Respond to organizational/operational changes and adjusts accordingly: assess new products and strategies, reporting developments and enhancements, and ensures effective transition into production
- Train/onboard team members and peers on functional processes and procedures
- Perform supervisory/managerial duties
- Ensure adequate/skilled staffing; select employees
- Establish performance goals and priorities
- Prepare, conduct and review performance appraisals
- Develop, mentor and counsel staff
- Provide input and/or prepare budget requirements for Annual Financial Plan (AFP)
- Ensure section/branch goals and objectives align with division/department strategy
- Ensure efficiency of operations
- Performs other related duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Significant experience with QRM systems and software
- Experience in work which displays increasing levels of responsibility and/or authority
- Advanced knowledge of banking/financial industry trends, products and services
- Advanced knowledge of any of the following: asset/liability management, financial accounting, cost accounting, budgeting principles and practices, statistics, finance, and/or mathematic modeling
- Experience assimilating technical, complex financial and economic data
- Experience supervising and leading professional employees
- Significant experience with credit union financials and/or NCUA regulations JDS0188
- Significant experience with automated risk modeling systems and software JDS0484
- Advanced research, analytical and problem-solving skills
- Advanced skill using modeling, forecasting, and data mining systems and applications
- Advanced skill presenting findings, conclusions, alternatives and information clearly and concisely
- Advanced skill in producing desired results and achieving goals and objectives
- Effective skill interacting with staff, management, vendors, members diplomatically & tactfully
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Effective skill to influence, negotiate and persuade to reach agreeable exchange and positive outcomes
- Advanced organizational, planning and time management skills
- Advanced word processing and spreadsheet software skills
- Advanced database and presentation software skills
- Master's degree in a Finance, Business Administration or related field, or the equivalent combination of training, education and experience
- MBA in Finance, Economics, Statistics or related field
