As a Sales Manager, we'll count on you to achieve profit and growth goals within and assigned channel. You'll plan and implement sales development programs that directly support a business unit, segment or channel. In addition, you'll have opportunities to partner with Sales, Underwriting and product teams to implement cross-functional and cross-business unit sales initiatives.
Job Description
Key Responsibilities:
Implements sales programs in support of wholesaler/cluster agents to meet business plan production and growth goals in assigned channel.
Consults with agents to identify opportunities to increase premium and improve business plans.
Onboards new agents through a formal process.
Manages individual cluster member(s) to meet agreed upon commitment levels and monitors performance.
Implements business unit, channel or segment sales initiatives
Leads webinars for both wholesaler sub-producers including Nationwide Brokerage Solutions (NBS) and Nationwide Sales and Service (NSS), as well as other members.
Provides front-line support to Nationwide Agents who have been certified for direct quote access.
Provides analysis and reporting on results and performance to management and select agents.
Develops and maintains business relationships with key internal partners (i.e. Sales, Underwriting, Risk Solutions, Solutions Center, etc.)
Maintains current knowledge on new state launches, new and/or changes to product or rates.
Researches and acquires competitor information on products, rate filings and distribution strategy and shares with management.
May perform other responsibilites as assigned
Reporting Relationships: Reports to sales officer or Sales Director. No direct reports.
Typical Skills and Experiences:
Education: Undergraduate degree in business administration or related field preferred.
License/Certification/Designation: Technical designations such as CPCU, CLU or equivalent insurance education are desired.
Experience: Minimum of two years of experience in marketing, sales or underwriting in the insurance industry. Additional experience in personal lines underwriting is also preferred.
Knowledge, Abilities and Skills: Proven knowledge of sales program implementation, distribution systems, and training concepts involving products, rules, and rating plans. Solid understanding of state laws and regulations required. Must have good verbal and written communication skills to distribute information to leadership and to motivate agents. Must make things happen and drive for results. Must have working skills in common office software and personal computers. Ability to set work priorities and to initiate, evaluate and recommend solutions to upper management. Must have project management concepts and personal computer-based software programs skills.
Other criteria, including leadership skills, competencies and experiences may take precedence.
Staffing exceptions to the above must be approved by the hiring manager’s leader and Human Resources Business Partner.
