As a Trader, you’ll handle trade-related calls and inquiries from clients and registered representatives and promptly and accurately process all incoming trades on the brokerage platform. As a registered principal, you will perform daily brokerage reporting and principal duties including daily trade review, approval and executing approved trade corrections and reviews of reports for potential red-flag activity.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

  • Inputs trades, promptly and accurately, to ensure best execution and minimization of trade errors. Handles all trade-related phone calls and is expected to demonstrate a high level of customer service, striving for an outstanding experience for each caller. 

  • Acts as a subject matter authority on firm brokerage trading processes, all things trading related in Pershing accounts and possess a thorough knowledge of brokerage business. 

  • Generates and signs off as principal on the daily required reporting. Reviews error accounts and next day trade reviews for accuracy. May also review and approve trades placed by others. 

  • Composes reports for projects, audits and to meet compliance requirements as needed.

  • Assists with issue resolution and securities related research and provide cost basis information for clients.

  • Demonstrates proficiency in the NetX system for trading and other operational functions as well.

  • Provides back-up to the Broker-Dealer Service team and handles overflow. Will also provide business processing assistance as needed.

May perform other responsibilities as assigned.

Reporting Relationship: Reports to Operations Director and does not have direct reports. 

Typical Skills and Experiences:


Education: Undergraduate degree preferred.

Licenses/Certification/Designation: FINRA Series 7 and Series 63 required; Series 24 and 53 preferred.

Experience: Three years of relevant financial industry and/or broker dealer experience. Management, sales, compliance, sales supervision preferred.

Knowledge, Abilities and Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills. Traders must also have high level of expertise in brokerage business submission procedures and the ability to clearly communicate this information to clients and representatives. Working knowledge of insurance or financial business processes. Non-standard or extended work may be required based on project needs. Ability to operate a personal computer and business software. Working in a call center environment, excellent communication skills are a must, especially over the phone. Will be proficient in contingent procedures for alternative order submission and alternative work situations.

Other criteria, including leadership skills, competencies and experiences may take precedence. 
 
Staffing exceptions to the above must be approved by the hiring manager’s leader and Human Resources Business Partner.
