Department Profile
The Finance Division reports to the Chief Financial Officer and consists of some 3,000 employees worldwide. Finance protects the Morgan Stanley franchise by serving as guardian of the Firm's books and records, and by contributing to firm wide risk management and risk reduction. This division maintains relationships with Morgan Stanley's various industry and government regulators, and also serves as the conduit of financial information to the outside investment community. Finance plays a critical role as advisor to Morgan Stanley's various businesses and its senior management team.
Finance is responsible for overseeing the accounting and financial and regulatory reporting for the Firm. They prepare external financial reports for public filings and regulators. For internal reporting Finance, along with Financial Planning and Analysis (FPA), summarizes, plans and forecasts the organization's financial position, including income statements, balance sheets, and analyses of future revenues, expenses and earnings. Finance is comprised of Business Unit Controllers, Infrastructure Controllers, Accounting, Regulatory and Reporting groups, and Valuation Review.
The Wealth Management Financial Planning & Analysis Associate will have a central focus on consolidating and reporting segment income statement and performance metrics for the retail business. This includes actual results as well as budget and multi-year forecasts for the consumption of both internal and external parties.
Responsibilities Include:
- Weekly rolling forecast consolidation with variance analysis closely working with business-facing Finance teams
- Monthly review and reconciliation of actual results, including the processing of consolidating eliminations
- Tracking of month-end close with key focus on forecast vs. actual results analysis
- Preparation of quarterly reporting decks including the WM Due Diligence package
- Data submission for quarterly regulatory reports
- General and ad hoc involvement with the segment budget and Comprehensive Capital Analysis & Review (CCAR) multi-year forecast preparation
Requirements
- BS/BA degree required
- 3+ years post-college experience in financial services industry
- Demonstrated ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects, manage expectations and complete deliverables in a timely manner with exceptional attention to detail.
- Strong interpersonal collaboration and team skills including working with cross-functional teams - proven flexibility, adaptability and reliability.
- Expert level knowledge of MS Office with emphasis on PowerPoint, Word and Excel.
- Excellent presentation skills.
Expected base pay rates for the role will be between $90,000 and $155,000 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base pay if hired will be determined on an individualized basis and is only part of the total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, incentive compensation, discretionary bonuses, other short and long-term incentive packages, and other Morgan Stanley sponsored benefit programs.
