We're seeking someone to join our team as an Associate to join our IM Operations Team which supports the Equity, Fixed Income, Liquidity and Alternative Businesses for Morgan Stanley Investment Management (MSIM), providing middle-office services including portfolio manager support, client services, portfolio transition management, market registration, product data maintenance and performance and attribution analysis. MSIM Operations also provides mutual fund support, derivative processing, and counterparty and credit event management services

MSIM Derivative Operations is responsible for various Derivative Middle and Back Office services for MSIM Operations. The Global Derivative Trade support team team is primarily responsible for all middle office related activities within Derivative Operations. The team covers broker, custodian, fund accountant and client reconciliation for all derivative asset classes including but not limited to F&O, IRS, CDS, CDX, and TRS. The team is also responsible for the processing of life cycle events for all OTC derivatives. This position will be located in India, Mumbai office.

What you'll do in the role:
  • Perform daily functional responsibilities focused on derivative trade processing, block trade allocation communication, trade affirmation, trade confirmation and trade notification.
  • Liaise with Fixed Income and Equity traders to resolve derivative trade discrepancies.
  • Reconcile positions and market values for Swaps, Options, and Forward FXs with counterparties and fund accountants.
  • Perform daily futures reconciliations with clearing brokers.
  • Escalate material breaks or breaks which could lead to a NAV error or incorrect valuation to relevant stakeholders.
  • Provide standard and ad-hoc reporting to the Derivatives teams in Europe and North America
  • Make recommendations on process improvements and control enhancements.
  • Review cash settlement breaks pertaining to fee processing.
  • Maintain metrics regarding above tasks together with trade volumes.
  • Contribute to operational workflows addressing internal requirements.

Relationship Management:
  • Liaise with fund accountants, custodians, and technology service providers to resolve issues.
  • Liaise with other stakeholders from MSIM offices around the globe.
  • Liaise with Derivative Middle Office teams to resolve high impact reconciliation breaks.

Derivative Middle Office:
  • Liaising with Fixed Income and Equity traders to resolve trade discrepancies.
  • Liaising with Clearing Brokers, Fund Accountants, and third-party vendors to resolve trade related issues.
  • Working with Portfolio Services, Collateral Management and Fund Administration teams to resolve any post trade issues

What you'll bring to the role:
  • OTC or ETD trade support experience strongly preferred.
  • Strong product knowledge (OTC and Listed Derivatives)
  • Strong numeracy and analytical skills
  • Accuracy, attention to detail, good organization skills
  • High level of English - strong verbal and written communication skills
  • High degree of computer literacy, including working knowledge of Windows-based applications such as Word, Excel and Access
  • Demonstrated success working in a high volume, high intensity derivatives environment.
  • Proven record of collaborating with a diverse group of colleagues across geographic and functional boundaries.
  • Must be team oriented.
  • Professional maturity, self-confidence, decisiveness, and outstanding business judgment
  • Ability to assimilate information quickly.
