About the Role:
The Senior Investment Writer is responsible for writing content for print and digital mediums. This individual is primarily responsible for the creation of thought leadership content that supports a range of investment products and themes, including investment insights, infographics, video scripts, investment outlooks, email and social media. This individual works closely with investment teams, SEO, product marketing and channel marketing teams and is a skilled short-form and long-form investment writer. In-depth knowledge of alternative markets and investment products including private equity, private credit, real assets and hedge funds, is required.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Research investment topics and themes within alternative investments.
- Follow market and economic trends and proactively communicates investment teams' views on timely investment topics as appropriate.
- Write key editorial content, including insights, white papers, social media posts, infographics, video scripts and investment outlooks.
- Customize editorial content to meet the distinct needs of different audience types
- Lead the editorial process, including in-depth interviewing of knowledge experts and gathering and interpreting of independent research.
- Oversee content until completion, including coordination with compliance, design and digital.
- Edit content for delivery across a variety of mediums, including print, web and multimedia.
- Assume additional editorial duties as requested or assigned.
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Finance, Economics or equivalent required.
- Minimum of ten years financial writing experience.
- Excellent writing and editing skills.
- In-depth knowledge of alternative investments and/or ability to learn.
- Ability to research complex topics and interview investment professionals.
- Ability to communicate complex financial topics in a clear and concise manner.
- Ability to think creatively, conceptually, and strategically.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, meeting tight deadlines.
- Strong interpersonal and relationship management skills.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.

Expected base pay rates for the role will be between $140,000 and $160,000 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base pay if hired will be determined on an individualized basis and is only part of the total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, incentive compensation, discretionary bonuses, other short and long-term incentive packages, and other Morgan Stanley sponsored benefit programs.
