Morgan Stanley Fixed Income Strats have opportunities available for Financial Engineers and Quantitative Model Developers. We are looking for a self-motivated individual with outstanding technical skills who want to leverage their talent in solving business problems in a complex, diverse and global environment.

The below five profiles describe the different categories of roles available within Strats. In many cases an individual role will encompass aspects of each.
  • Quant Developers Strategists use advanced technological and, in some cases, quantitative skills to productionize models, manage and maintain code libraries and rapidly develop innovative trader tools. They work closely with IT, other Strat functions and business lines to integrate new technologies to enhance pricing and risk calculations.
  • Desk Trading Strategists use their market and product knowledge, quantitative and technology skills to price trades and optimize trading strategies. They work closely with traders and sales to build models, tools and generate trade ideas to identify, enable and execute on growth opportunities.
  • Business Analytics Strategists have a deep understanding of the Fixed Income business and use their technology and data skills to deliver data insights and key business metrics. Working closely with Business Management and COOs, they help set and track strategy by collecting data from various parts of the org and build attribution models and metrics. They also build tools to capture date and distribute metrics across the org.
  • Regulatory Modeling Strategists apply quantitative skills to verify, stress-test, and document models, diagnose unexpected results, and maintain the frameworks required to produce complex risk metrics and reports. They work closely with Model Risk Management, Valuation Control, Risk Analytics, Internal Audit and Regulatory Relationship teams to ensure the Firm meets the highest regulatory standards.
  • Trading Automation Strategists are financial and software engineers who design, implement, back-test, deploy and measure sophisticated automated trading components and systematic trading strategies. Working closely with other Strategists and trading desks, they rapidly provide new solutions and bring efficiencies and quantitative edge to existing business processes within a dynamic market-driven environment.

You have:
  • Degree in a quantitative area or technology such as Mathematics, Physics, Computer Science, etc.
  • Solid problem solving & math foundations and an interest in the financial industry
  • Good programming skills in Python or in some other object-oriented programming language
  • Advanced communication skills in English.
