ISG has created an ISG Data Group (IDG) to provide single point of accountability for the full spectrum of data related initiatives. This ranges from the defensive risk reduction aspects of data security (both internal and external), through operational effectiveness from improving data quality, to helping enhancing revenue through further leveraging our data assets for providing services to our clients.
The ISG Divisional Data Office (DDO) is part of IDG and is responsible for the oversight and integrity of the data used for senior management, regulatory or client reporting, or used by internal controls. Using a risk-based prioritization methodology, the team is responsible for prioritizing key data which may require improvements in the controls to ensure integrity of that data.
Position Description
Morgan Stanley is seeking Senior Associate who will work with the rest of the ISG DDO team to review and assess prioritized data initiatives, review key front office processes and the associated control framework, identify any control gaps and work on defining remediation plans for these gaps, identify lineage and data authority for the key data elements.
Skill Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in the financial services industry
- Knowledge of financial products / asset classes / risk measures
- Knowledge of the trade lifecycle & F2B data lineage/data flow experience
- Strong risk and control mindset
- Strong analytical skills
- Ability to build & maintain credible relationships
- Ability to work independently with minimal guidance
- Experience in a similar Data Management role with focus on data definitions, Data authorities, data quality rules & dashboard, data quality controls preferred
- Background in an independent control function preferred
Primary Responsibilities
- Assist in the assessment of prioritization of various data initiatives
- Develop SME knowledge around key data governance processes and controls
- Develop data definitions for prioritized data and conduct data lineage to identify data authorities
- Catalogue prioritized data and associated meta data in Firm approved tool
- Conduct control coverage assessment and identify any control gaps

Expected base pay rates for the role will be between $100,000 and $145,000 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base pay if hired will be determined on an individualized basis and is only part of the total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, incentive compensation, discretionary bonuses, other short and long-term incentive packages, and other Morgan Stanley sponsored benefit programs.
