Department Profile
The International Product team look after multiple cross-border fund ranges covering the range of investment capabilities across equities, fixed income, multi-asset, and alternative funds with c. $150-200+bn of assets under management. This role will provide exposure to a wide range of internal departments and will give a unique insight into the entire asset management business.
Team Profile
The role of the International Product Management team is to develop, and through active post-launch management, maintain funds for MSIM's business outside the US. This encompasses assisting internal teams (Sales and Portfolio Management) in defining which products are needed to support investment strategies, and launch those products in a commercially successful, high-quality manner. After launch, the team must ensure that the funds remain optimally positioned and commercially viable as client requirements and the regulatory and competitive environments change.
Primary Responsibilities
Responsible for the management of non-US fund legal vehicles and their sub-funds, including:
- Support new fund, sub-fund or share class launches ensuring that the appropriate business case has been made.
- Registering of funds or share classes in additional jurisdictions, ensuring that the appropriate business case has been made, costs of registration are well understood, and we comply with any jurisdictional requirements.
- Responsible for the data quality of Key Fund documents including PRRIPs/ UCITS KiDs/ KiiDs, application forms and European Investor Templates.
- Manage, on instruction, any seed money investments/repatriations ensuring sign off has been received.
- Co-ordinate tax related registrations and annual filings.
- Production of management information as required, including quarterly reporting and product reviews.
- Production of presentations for use internally or at Management Company/ Fund Boards/ Governance Committees.
- Researching competitor fund information and producing market analysis, including the preparation of high-level summary reports and highlights.
- Participate in projects implementing regulatory change.
- Working with internal stakeholders, including legal, compliance, finance, and operations on product related aspects.
- Ongoing maintenance of existing fund ranges.
- Oversight and management of material, core, strategic outsourced vendor relationships.
- Act as main subject matter expert regarding fund and share class 'passporting' and 'cross boarder' registration (EU and non-EU), notification procedures, document gathering and filing - responsible for ongoing maintenance to ensure adherence with applicable regulatory requirements (i.e. update and filing document updates, prospectus, financial statements, KiD, KiiD updates, de-registrations, deauthorisations and annual regulatory reporting).
Skills Required
- The candidate must have a broad understanding of the asset management industry and its various operating functions with industry experience, in a product management, regulatory reporting or similar oversight role.
- Attention to detail, high level of initiative, resourcefulness, and ability to demonstrate good business judgment.
- Ability to manage delivery/execution of a wide range of tasks and initiatives.
- Ability to work effectively with professionals at all levels of Morgan Stanley and with external service providers.
- Self-motivated, goal-oriented; team player who works well within a small team environment.
- Outstanding organisational, time management skills essential.
- Ability to coordinate projects and ongoing tasks with internal and external stakeholders.
- Good understanding of fund, distribution, passporting, cross boarder registration, regulatory and filing processes.
