The team in Tokyo works closely with the Hong Kong, New York, London, and Budapest offices.
About the Role
Investment Management Finance team provides finance advisory service to business unit. This includes preparation of management reporting, legal entity reporting, monthly closing of the Firms books and records, analytics, account reconciliation, business decision support, fund operation support, and projects.

Key Respnsibilities
- Support Investment Management business (Asset Management, Real Estate Investment).
- Manage three entities in Japan (MSIM, MSC, MSJRH).
- Gain overall understanding of Investment Management business (Management Reporting, Legal Entity, PL/BS/Cash Management)
- Seek constant improvements, not satisfy with status-quo, and continue to lead efficiency
- Lead transformation of team (e.g. process automation, control enhancement, location strategy etc.)
- Manage month-end and year-end closing processes
- Perform year-end external reporting preparation by collaborating with Legal Entity Controllers
- Analyze and reconcile Balance Sheet and P&L accounts on a monthly basis
- Handle billing, invoicing, and payments
- Manage funding and distribution arrangement for real-estate investment business
- Examine financial and legal documents to verify accuracy and adherence to financial regulations
- Prepare internal reports and presentations, and provide insightful stories to management
- Transform financial data into meaningful message to support decision making
- Support business decision making by exhibiting financial expertise
- Manage Technology initiatives to achieve efficiency
- Work with internal and external audit
- Collaborate with Business Units and Finance colleagues across regions to achieve business goals
Qualifications, Skills & Requirements:
• An understanding, experience, or qualification at least one of the following areas: Investment Management Controllers, Real Estate Investment Controllers, Accounting, CPA/CFA
• University degree (BSc or BA) in accounting, finance, or a related discipline is a plus though not required
• Over 5 years of work experience in a related field
• Self-motivated personality with high standards for quality of work and accuracy
• Excellent communication, teamwork, and people skills
• Aptitude for working in a swiftly changing, dynamic environment
• Willingness to challenge status quo to seek further improvements and efficiency
• Ability and willingness to work with teams across regions towards the achievement of common goals
• Strong analytical and problem solving skills
• Strong attention to details
• Proficiency in MS Office (Excel/Macro, PowerPoint, Word)
• Digital tool experience is a plus (UiPath, IBM Cognos TM1, Power BI etc.) though not required
• Language: business level English & Japanese
