The available position is a Vice President position within Business Unit Risk Management, specifically within the Institutional Equity Division (IED) Non-Market Risk team. IED provides liquidity, distributes content, and creates product solutions to help service our clients. Non-Market Risk Managers within IED focus on supporting the Division to manage risk through a comprehensive framework of policy setting, risk identification and controls in response to market, counterparty, regulatory, economic and other factors, as appropriate.
The individual will be responsible for the coordination of internal audits, compliance testing reviews, and regulatory exams impacting the Division, working in an agile manner across multiple stakeholders. This position requires a comprehensive understanding of the Division and serves as the primary liaison to Audit. The individual will explain operational processes, communicate existing controls, efficiently manage deliverables, conduct business and process walkthroughs, and negotiate audit, testing review, and exam outcomes. The individual will be required to work with various groups across the Firm, including IED Sales and Traders, Legal, Compliance, Operational Risk, Technology, Operations, Finance and Audit.

Job Responsibilities include:
- Manage the IED internal audit and compliance testing calendar, including supporting pre-review preparations, conducting walkthroughs, effectively communicating key processes, and collating and reviewing deliverables
- Represent IED's position on key issues and negotiate outcomes that accurately reflect the risks associated with identified remediation work
- After conclusion of an audit, test, or exam, perform a comprehensive review of identified issues to assess controls in other areas, ensuring that repeat findings are avoided
- Drafting senior management presentation material for quarterly audit and external regulator meetings
- Coordinate regulatory exams and inquiries affecting the business, including drafting or otherwise reviewing written responses
- Oversee the Division's OpenPages Issues and Action Plans, including providing effective review and challenge on remediation items, ensuring deadlines are met, and reporting status updates to senior management
- Establishing relationships and working closely with Supervisors, Business Unit Risk Management, Legal, Compliance, Technology, Operations and other control groups
- Assist in managing IED's operational risk management framework, including proposing processes and innovative solutions to address risk issues, risk incident collection and reporting
- Lead various risk management projects and represent IED in Firmwide working groups and governance forums to evaluate the impact of various initiatives on the IED business
Required Skills
• 5-10 years of relevant professional experience in Financial Services or related field
• Self-starter with a positive outlook and desire to solve problems
• Strong analytical skills with an ability to understand complex workflows
• Proven ability to take ideas forward and to challenge others with integrity and maturity
• Ability to handle multiple tasks in a timely and effective manner and thrive in a fast-paced environment that lends itself to changing priorities and quick turnaround
• Excellent and concise oral and written communication skills across various levels of seniority in an organization demonstrated by clearly articulating objectives, requirements, risks and issues
• Strong project management skills
• Exceptional organizational skills and a high degree of attention to detail
• Strong Excel skills and proficiency in other Microsoft applications such as Word and PowerPoint

Expected base pay rates for the role will be between $140,000 and $250,000 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base pay if hired will be determined on an individualized basis and is only part of the total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, incentive compensation, discretionary bonuses, other short and long-term incentive packages, and other Morgan Stanley sponsored benefit programs.
