The position available is a Vice President position on the Non-Market Risk team within the Institutional Equity Division (IED) Business Control Unit. The individual will work within a cross-functional team to support various risk functions, with a primary focus on technology risk. They will collaborate regularly with senior members across the IED business and associated control functions, such as Technology and Compliance, to support adherence to applicable rules and regulations governing the Firm's activities, as well as Firm policies, procedures, standards, and controls.

Responsibilities may include:

  • Leading projects related to the overall risk management framework, with a focus on technology risk and information security programs and/or representing IED in similar projects led by other teams.
  • Monitoring and improving existing control frameworks, including the design, testing, and implementation of new controls to support compliance with evolving regulatory requirements.
  • Supporting adherence to Firm technology policies and procedures, including metrics compliance, hygiene requirements, policy compliance, and disaster recovery obligations.
  • Conducting in-depth analyses of technology risks, creating metric escalation models, and enhancing periodic reporting to increase transparency to senior management.
  • Developing and implementing risk-based remediation plans to prioritize critical remediation items.
  • Creating guidance documents to ensure consistent handling of technology changes, including risk classification and change approval workflows.
  • Ensuring transparency for senior management regarding access to sensitive data and managing entitlements in line with Firm policies and procedures and IED-specific guidelines.
  • Collaborating with internal teams to increase adoption of data management and entitlements management tools and documenting use cases, as needed.
  • Liaising with senior management and other stakeholders to evaluate and respond to external and internal information requests-i.e., from regulators, Audit, Compliance.

Qualifications

Experience / Skills Required: 7-10 years of relevant professional experience in Financial Services or related field
  • Knowledge of SDLC (Software Development Lifecycle), compliance standards, risk assessment frameworks, and governance practices
  • Familiarity with utilizing Python and/or SQL to manipulate data, with the opportunity to research, conceptualize, develop, and deploy AI solutions
  • Sound judgment and ability to identify and escalate issues effectively and appropriately
  • Strong motivation and natural curiosity-be a self-starter with a positive outlook and desire to investigate the why and how underlying processes and systems and to solve problems
  • Strong analytical skills combined with an ability to understand, document, and then explain complex concepts and workflows
  • Track record of effectively challenging others with integrity and maturity
  • Excellent and concise oral and written communication skills across various levels of seniority in a large and complex organization, demonstrated by clearly articulating objectives, requirements, risks, and issues
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks in a timely and effective manner and thrive in a fast-paced environment that lends itself to changing priorities and quick turnarounds
  • Proven strong project management skills and ability to drive projects to completion
  • Expert in Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel and PowerPoint
  • Proficient in python, tableau, power BI (great to have)

Expected base pay rates for the role will be between $140,000 and $250,000 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base pay if hired will be determined on an individualized basis and is only part of the total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, incentive compensation, discretionary bonuses, other short and long-term incentive packages, and other Morgan Stanley sponsored benefit programs.
