About the Division
Global Capital Markets Division (GCM) integrates Morgan Stanley's expertise in Investment Banking and Sales & Trading, offering clients seamless advice and sophisticated solutions. GCM originates, structures and executes public and private placement of equities, investment-grade and non-investment-grade debt and related products. The group provides fresh ideas and broad distribution to help clients get the most out of each stage of a transaction, and continually develops capital markets solutions to enable clients to mitigate strategic, operational, credit and market risks.

Key Responsibilities
• Business unit risk management, focusing on identification, assessment and mitigation of potential risks associated with the Global Capital Markets, either in the context of new origination or existing transactions
• Working with the business to understand need for additional policies, procedures, guidance and /or training and developing the associated training materials and draft policies and procedures
• Partnering with Non-Financial Risk, Legal & Compliance, and other constituents to socialize policies, procedures and trainings and then implement and embed within the business
• Advising the business on regulatory developments and changes in legal requirements while assisting with responses to regulatory inquiries
• Managing broader Firm projects affecting/involving GCM Japan as well as GCM Japan-driven initiatives
• Providing general capital markets advice to GCM Japan teams
• Actively collaborate with colleagues in non-Japan offices in New York, London, Hong Kong, and Mumbai, as well as with colleagues in other groups
• Head of Business Control Unit for GCM Japan will report to Head of GCM Japan. Depending on level of experience, Head of Business Control Unit may have managerial responsibilities.
Qualifications, Skills & Requirements
• Japanese and English bilingual skill is required
• JSDA RR1 and Naikan are required
• 10+ years of experience in financial services industry and/or private side legal & compliance, ideally with focus in equity and debt capital markets, derivatives and lending products
• Excellent analytical, oral and written communication skills and ability to develop commercial solutions which demonstrate sound judgment relative to the risks
• Excellent interpersonal skills necessary to forge strong and effective working relationships with key stakeholders across the business and across various regions
• Demonstrated ability to be creative in developing alternative solutions in a dynamic, fast-paced and challenging environment which often requires significant global coordination
• Goal oriented, follows through on tasks, remediation and implementation
• Flexibility to handle real time prioritization/re-prioritization and availability
• Comfortable with leadership
• Curious and creative, interested in new challenges
• Thinks like an owner
• Capacity to work and make informed decisions independently as well as partner with Non-Financial Risk and Legal & Compliance colleagues
• Strong organizational skills needed to handle the coordination of multiple priorities
