About the Role

The Prime Brokerage (PB) Controller team supports the PB business, which houses Morgan Stanley's Delta One Structured Products (DSP). The Prime Brokerage business offers a collection of services to hedge funds & asset managers. These include OTC swap and structure products, financing, and stock lending. This is an exciting and innovative space with new technology and STP systems in Finance. The team is therefore able to focus time on value added services to meet internal client needs and develop and design reporting analytics with global counterparts.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide coverage for guardianship of the books and records for IED Prime Brokerage Asia and Japan including daily Profit and Loss sign offs, monthly P&L and Balance Sheet substantiation review and Supervisory Oversight of the processes run by the offshore team in Mumbai
  • Support and collaborate with the Business Unit (BU), Client Services, Legal Entity Controllers, Product Controllers, IT, and Operations across daily functions and various business growth initiatives
  • Prepare/review and Present weekly and monthly reporting for the BU and global senior management
  • Assist with the review of New Product Approvals, including design of new controls and reporting that may be required in terms of these products
  • Liaise with Global Accounting Policy to determine the appropriate accounting treatment for new products and business
  • Drive streamline projects through refinement in data quality and enhanced control. Engage in various cross-divisional ad-hoc projects and assisting in queries from stakeholders
  • Review the PNL activities performed by Mumbai team, interact with BU on daily PNL issues.

Qualifications, Skills & Requirements
  • At least 8 years of experience in Accounting and Finance or related fields
  • University graduated in Finance, Economics, Accounting, or relevant disciplines
  • Ability to work autonomously and under pressure, and are a self-starter, willing to take ownership and accountability
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with the mindset of continuous improvement, aiming for excellence
  • Strong attention to details, organized and effectively juggle various priorities
  • Aptitude for working in a swiftly changing, dynamic environment
  • Willingness to work with virtual teams across varying regions towards the achievement of common goals
  • Good teamwork, collaboration, and excellent communications skills
  • Excellent Microsoft Excel and VBA skills with the ability to navigate and work on complex spreadsheets.
  • Strong stakeholder management capabilities, including experience managing senior stakeholders
  • Product knowledge / experience a plus
