Private Debt Coverage Team
Morgan Stanley's Private Debt Coverage ("PDC") team delivers the firm's products and services to the top alternative asset managers in the private debt space, spanning the full lifecycle of client needs: capital raising, financing, hedging, capital markets, and advisory.
PDC clients invest across several asset classes including middle market directing lending, commercial real estate, and asset based finance among others.
Expanding activity with this set of clients is a key growth vector for Morgan Stanley's Institutional Securities Group (ISG). Within ISG, PDC is a highly visible, cross-divisional effort comprised of senior coverage leads from Fixed Income Division (FID), Investment Banking Division (IBD), and Global Capital Markets (GCM) and a dedicated team charged with strategic and day-to-day client coverage responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities
• Client Coverage: become an integral member of the coverage team who acts as the central point of contact and key advisor for PDC clients as they navigate Morgan Stanley. Team success is measured through incremental revenue capture in financing, new issue and capital markets, hedging solutions, and advisory products.
• Team Coordination: drive private debt business through coordination of the internal team, including PDC senior coverage, FID Senior Relationship Management (SRM), Fixed Income Secured Lending (FSL) product leadership, FID product sales, GCM and IBD teams.
• Pipeline Growth and Management: comprehensively track and further implement the full suite of private debt products in partnership with internal product leaders. Show in investment opportunities and support client fundraising efforts. Evaluate missed opportunities as you look to grow the client relationship. Rigorously monitor the balance of payments.
• Internal Sponsorship: develop the opportunity narrative in the immediate and long terms when seeking resource allocation (e.g. firm balance sheet, cap intro services), defining transaction terms, and resolving client issues.
Qualifications
• 1-5 years of experience at a premier financial institution in the private credit, investment banking, capital markets, fixed income, or related teams
• Proactive, self-motivated, positive attitude • Connects with others in a way that fosters trust and creates collaborative relationships
• Excellent listening, written and verbal communication skills
• Familiarity or strong interest in the private debt product universe
• Series 7, 63, and 79 licensing or must obtain

Expected base pay rates for the role will be between $110,000 and $125,000 per year commencement of employment for Analyst, and between $150,000 and $200,000 per year commencement of employment for Associate. However, base pay if hired will be determined on an individualized basis and is only part of the total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, incentive compensation, discretionary bonuses, other short and long-term incentive packages, and other Morgan Stanley sponsored benefit programs.
