Opportunity to join a growing team of Trust Specialists within Morgan Stanley's Family Office Resources. A Trust Specialist at Morgan Stanley is a business development role designed to work closely with Financial Advisors to help their clients with corporate trustee solutions using the unique Open Architecture Trust Platform. The position involves vetting new corporate trustee opportunities (current and successor), educating advisors, and collaborating with other colleagues including Family Office Resources and Financial Planning, etc. The Trust Specialist provides customized solutions while adhering to firm standards and promoting the integrated firm.

Job Description

  • Seeking a self-motivated professional with experience developing Corporate Trustee business.
  • Gather new assets using the platform by sharing best practices and educating Regional Management, Market Managers, Financial Advisors, and their clients.
  • Responsible for identifying, closing, and funding of personal and institutional trust business using Morgan Stanley's unique open architecture platform.
  • Proactively provide regional support/coverage for the assigned territory; this involves visiting Morgan Stanley branch offices and regional/market events.
  • Obtain a keen understanding of the product offering and services provided by Trustee Partners.
  • Gain an understanding of the investment management platforms and other services at Morgan Stanley to help promote the integrated firm.
  • Review trust agreements, wills and estate planning documents provided by Financial Advisors for opportunities for consideration of a corporate trustee solution.
  • Help FAs put best foot forward by demonstrating the customization of the trust solution to best fit the client's needs.
  • Educate Attorney/CPA/Business Professional contacts of Financial Advisors about Morgan Stanley's corporate trustee platform with the objective of driving referral business.
  • Collaborate and partner with other areas of Family Office Resources to bring integrated solutions to Morgan Stanley clients and prospects.

Job Requirements

  • Series 7, Series 63 registered, or willingness to obtain within 3 months of hire
  • Bachelors Degree
  • 5+ years' experience in trust sales or similar new business development role; at least 10 years' experience in trust industry
  • Ability to travel
  • When not traveling, 5 days a week in office requirement
  • Strong communicative skills and professional speaking experience
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office

Expected base pay rates for the role will be between 150,000 and 250,000 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base pay if hired will be determined on an individualized basis and is only part of the total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, incentive compensation, discretionary bonuses, other short and long-term incentive packages, and other Morgan Stanley sponsored benefit programs.
