Morgan Stanley Home Loans is seeking an Assistant Vice President Due Diligence Specialist. This individual will report to the VP Due Diligence Team Manager and will be responsible for identifying, communicating and coordinating with 1st and 2nd lines on due diligence alerts and inquiries. Additionally, the individual will be placing conditions in the Home Loans Originations System to prevent loans from moving to closing until confirmation that appropriate screenings have been completed and cleared. The individual will be working with Global Financial Crimes and Ops Risk Quality Assurance partners on review results and remediate exceptions identified where possible. The individual will be aligned to projects/action items/audits and participate in working sessions detailing processes end-to-end, identifying gaps and/or creation of procedures that support those initiatives.

Job Responsibilities
  • Business Support to Home Loan Employees for Anti-Money Laundering (AML)/Global Financial Crimes (GFC)/Due Diligence Escalations
  • Daily Reconciliation of Outstanding Home Loans Due Diligence Cases
  • Develop tactical and strategic resolutions to address Due Diligence QA/QC Findings
  • Collaborate with 1st LOD and 2nd LOD to ensure Due Diligence Reviews are addressed
  • Manage Due Diligence Pipeline to ensure reviews are completed in a timely manner and provide transparency on reviews underway
  • Compile and Reconcile List of Parties that require Due Diligence Screenings
  • Daily submission, monitoring of results, condition clearing and escalations for Due Diligence OFAC and Negative News screening log
  • Work with Business Unit and Risk Partners to collect additional information and/or forms required for Enhanced Due Diligence reviews
  • Place conditions within loan origination systems for High or High Plus risk rating for applicants identified by AML Risk Partners
  • Review and investigate transaction monitoring alerts for potential fraud, money laundering, and sanctions risks
  • Effectively utilize systems, both internal and external, to perform job functions and maintain accurate records
  • Act as a KYC/AML subject matter expert
  • Ensure all transactions follow financial regulations
  • Ensure there is strong oversight of all compliance operations including AML, Fraud, Sanctions, KYC/CIP/CDD and EDD, PEP, & OFAC sanctions

Required qualifications, capabilities and skills
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Office applications (word, excel, power point, Visio and outlook)
  • Ability to effectively collaborate with cross functional groups
  • Adapt at working in a fast-paced, high-energy environment
  • Meticulous and solid follow-up and follow through skills

Preferred qualifications
  • BS/BA or equivalent preferred
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of relevant work experience in KYC/AML/Global Financial Crimes (GFC)
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of Mortgage experience
  • Excellent communication, oral, written and presentation skills
  • Excellent customer focus; results oriented; focused on attention to detail
  • Strong relationship building skills and ability to effectively collaborate with cross functional groups

Expected base pay rates for the role will be between $85,000 and $135,000 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base pay if hired will be determined on an individualized basis and is only part of the total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, incentive compensation, discretionary bonuses, other short and long-term incentive packages, and other Morgan Stanley sponsored benefit programs.
