The Manager, Business Development will focus on business development partnership initiatives. This individual will be responsible for helping MLB drive new commercial opportunities in Sports Betting, Fantasy, and other emerging high-growth areas of the sports industry, while also maximizing fan engagement opportunities with MLB’s current portfolio of partners.
Responsibilities
- Increasing Fan Engagement – Creatively identifying means to leverage Sports Betting and other new business lines to grow fan engagement and broaden the MLB fanbase.
- Growing MLB Revenues – Maximizing revenue opportunities within the Business Development team, while also driving new revenue opportunities across all MLB business departments.
- Driving Innovation – Identifying innovative technologies to modernize our business operations, while also providing flexibility to expand MLB’s reach into new and adjacent commercial space.
- Partner Management: Day to day communication with MLB partners, including off-season planning, in-season activation execution, product and asset approvals, etc.
- Club Consultation: Day to day support for Clubs operating in the sports betting space.
- New Business Execution: Support for developing new business and executing on new partnerships.
- KPI Tracking and Reporting: Management of department KPI’s and general performance-tracking, using both public and private, internal, and external sources of data.
- Strategic Input: Support for honing and refining MLB’s commercial thesis in emerging business areas.

Qualifications
- Undergraduate-level degree.
- At least 4 + years of relevant work-experience. Ideal backgrounds include prior work in management consulting, investment banking, or corporate strategy / business development roles within the technology or media industries.
- Ideal candidates have a keen interest in sports business.
- Professional experience utilizing Microsoft Office Suite of Products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Proven experience working with cross-functional groups from ideation through execution.
- Excellent written and business communication skills.
- An objective, data-driven approach to decision-making, with strong skills in business reporting, KPI tracking, and industry analysis.
- Strong relationship-building skills, both with colleagues and clients.
- A collaborative, team-first attitude and approach to office-work.
Salary range: $90,000 - $125,000
