Position Overview
Major League Baseball seeks a highly-motivated individual with a passion for growing the game through youth development. MLB’s Baseball & Softball Development department spearheads youth and amateur programming, ranging from grassroots and introductory level activations through elite development programs and beyond. This specific role is responsible for shaping various MLB youth initiatives from concept to execution, with a particular focus on softball and girls baseball development. It’s a unique opportunity to blend on-field experience with event operations in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment, working cross-functionally with Sponsorship, Communications, Marketing, Strategy, and Consumer Products to achieve common goals.

What will you do
- Event and Tournament operations
- Event-planning logistics including, but not limited to: Budgeting; Product Ordering, Travel, Lodging, Meals, Staffing, and Post-event financials
- Responsible for development plans for recruitment of new and retention of existing softball and girls baseball athletes and strategic partners
- Coordinate on-field Softball and Girls Baseball Development programing, including playing rules
- Coordination of development opportunities with USA Softball, USA Baseball, and other youth softball/girls baseball organizations
- Coordinate and assist as assigned on additional Baseball & Softball Development events
- Customer service role in support of MLB Softball and Girls Baseball initiatives, including with respect to Nike RBI programs nationally/internationally
- Assist with the development and production of presentations, written materials, for programming and participation
- Prepare program and event reports and materials as requested
- Assistance and coordination of programming, planning, promotion of other Baseball & Softball Development programs including, but not limited to PLAY BALL, Pitch Hit, and Run, and other MLB programming and events
- Oversee and/or assist as assigned on coordination of operations, product needs, finance, and activations of programming and events.
- Coordinate and assist as assigned on implementation of digital registration and database with MLB Enterprise, Marketing, and Business Intelligence Departments.
- Coordinate and assist as assigned on programming, projects, events, and activations with USA Softball and USA Baseball where applicable
- Work with other MLB departments on Administrative, Contractual, Sponsorship, or other relevant areas in support of Baseball & Softball Development programming and events
- Attend meetings and conferences as assigned and report back on same
- Prepare program and event reports and materials as requested
- Establish, maintain, and develop relationships with internal and external Baseball & Softball Development Dept. partners and organizations.
Requirements
- Represent department at internal and external meetings
- Attend Baseball & Softball Development Department, MLB Events and functions as required (including outside normal business hours)
- Coordinate conference calls, meetings, and other Baseball & Softball Development Dept. administrative support as needed
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Sports Management, Marketing, Business, Public Relations/Communication suggested
- Previous experience in baseball/softball program operations
- Previous experience in planning and managing grassroots/community-based programs suggested
- Significant travel required, and extended work hours
- Excellent verbal and written skills
- Internet, organizational, management, and event planning skills
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office with emphasis on Excel and PowerPoint
- Familiarity with basic graphic design utilizing PowerPoint, Adobe Suite, and/or Canva
- Some physical work required
- Bilingual in English/Spanish a plus
Hiring Range: $65,000 to $67,500
As a candidate for this position, your salary and related elements of compensation will be contingent upon your work experience, education, skills and any other factors Major League Baseball (MLB) considers relevant to the hiring decision. In addition to your salary, MLB believes in providing a competitive compensation and benefits package for its employees.
