Coordinator, Accounts Payable & Payroll

MLB Network (“Company”) seeks a Coordinator, Accounts Payable & Payroll who will be responsible for working with the Manager, Accounts Payable to process invoices in the Company’s accounting system and with the Sr. Manager, Payroll for the timely and accurate processing of the Company’s payroll in the Company’s payroll system. This position requires someone who thrives in a fast paced, dynamic environment and who collaborates effectively.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Accounts Payable:
    • Assist with the processing and submission of invoices for payment into the Company’s accounting system.
    • Coordinate with MLB Office of the Commissioner for the setup and maintenance of new vendors.
    • Assist with processing of purchase orders into the accounting system.
    • Maintain excellent business relationships with vendors, employees, and other administrative departments in support of AP procedures.

  • Assist with data entry into the Company’s time and attendance system, as well as the Company’s payroll system.
  • Assist with the preparation of payroll related documents (i.e., payroll balancing spreadsheet, active employee listing, etc.).
  • Maintain an ongoing knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local pay and tax related laws and regulations.
  • Assist with the preparation of bi-weekly payroll and all related payroll reports including, but not limited to, tax deposits, 941 quarterly filings, W-2’s and other year-end reports.
  • Partner with the Human Resources Department to ensure the integrity of the payroll data, including data related to new hires, terminations, transfers and rate changes.
  • Maintain a variety of files and records related to garnishment, levies and other income adjustments.
  • Other such duties as required.

    Qualifications and Skills:

    • 0-2 years of relevant accounting experience.
    • Knowledge of accounting and/or payroll systems (knowledge of Oracle Fusion or UKG is preferred).
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Word and Excel.
    • Excellent time management skills.
    • Superior attention to detail.
    • Able to maintain confidential information.
    • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to function as an effective team member.
    • Ability to multitask.
    • Ability to work a flexible schedule as required, including nights, weekends and holidays.
    • Demonstrate the tact, diplomacy, decisiveness, and superior people skills required in the pressurized environment of live television.
    • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
    • Ability to sit, stand, and/or kneel for extended periods of time.
    • Possess the manual dexterity needed to effectively create required work product.
    • Possess the visual acuity needed to effectively create required work product.
    • Possess the auditory acuity needed to effectively create required work product.
    • Must possess excellent analytical and communication skills.
    • Prompt and regular attendance at an assigned work location.

     

    Education:

    • Bachelor's or Associate’s degree is required.

     

    Position Reports to:

    • Manager, Payroll.
