Job Summary:

Oversees all digital and print content for the Arizona Fall League including but not limited to: releases, social media, marketing, stats and game notes. This position will work in tandem with all departments and play a critical role in all internal and external communications.

Responsibilities:

  • Generates and issues all League news releases and media advisories, with input and approval from the Director and MLB Communications
  • Oversees the production of and approves all daily game notes and statistical information
  • Coordinates with MLB.com Editorial team an AFL editorial schedule and MLB Network for ongoing AFL appearances
  • Oversees process for pre- and post-game media availability for AFL personnel (managers, coaches, players)
  • Execute/oversee all daily AFL Social Media outlets and work closely with MLB Social Media to send out Facebook, Instagram and Twitter notes and re-purposed articles about AFL alumni on a weekly basis
  • Attends daily games as field support to media assistants and coordinates the press box logistics/inquiries during special event games
  • Solicits and compiles the voting results for weekly pitcher/player awards, League MVP, Dernell Stenson Award and annual All-Prospect Team annually
  • Consults and advises Director and MLB Communications (as requested) regarding any controversial local issues which could negatively impact the AFL’s reputation
  • Performs related duties as required

Qualifications and Skills: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
  • Social Media experience
  • Strong desktop publishing skills (MAC) and core computer skills (Word, MS Office, Excel)
  • Previous background working with local, regional and national baseball writers
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills

Pay Rate: $1,500 biweekly
