Job Description:
This job is responsible for facilitating scrum ceremonies, managing dependencies, providing visibility into delivery plans and progress, promoting agile principles and mindset through coaching, and enabling continuous improvement across multiple scrum teams. Key responsibilities include optimizing the flow of stories and the value delivered for medium to high complexity projects and programs. Job expectations include ensuring the team resolves impediments quickly, following agreed-to processes, and maintaining a good relationship with the product management team and other stakeholders.

Position Summary

This role is responsible for optimizing the flow of stories and the value delivered by one or more Scrum team, and is focused on serving the needs of the team to drive performance and growth. Key responsibilities include coordinating and facilitating Scrum ceremonies, managing dependencies for the team, providing visibility into team delivery plans and progress, enabling continuous improvement within the team.

This role ensures the impediments are resolved quickly, the team follows their agreed-to processes, and that there is a good relationship between the Product Owner and the development team. They promote and coach the Agile mindset and principles, empowering the team to become self-managing and fulfill their cross-functional potential.

Responsibilities:

  • Facilitates Scrum ceremonies including Sprint Planning, Daily Scrum, Backlog Refinement, Sprint Demos/Reviews, and Sprint Retrospectives
  • Provides visibility into the Agile team's delivery plans and progress against plan to stakeholders
  • Manages risk including dependency management, impediment removal and compliance with Enterprise Change Management and other policy requirements
  • Applies metrics to assess team delivery, maturity, and performance and identifies and shares improvement opportunities with the team
  • Partners with product stakeholders to ensure the team has a healthy product and Sprint backlog
  • Provides coaching and mentoring to the team for them to become high performing by collaborating, focusing on continuous improvement including cross-training, and sharing knowledge on scrum practices and Agile principles
  • Leads scaled planning for the team including Pre Planning/Preparation and Program Increment Planning Events) and represents the team in Scrum of Scrums/Agile Release Train Syncs
  • Facilitates dependency and risk management for the Scrum teams and the ART.
  • Facilitates team and cross-team impediment removal for the team.
  • Promotes/facilitates communication and collaboration within the Agile teams and across the ART to support value delivery and Sprint commitments.
  • Provides visibility into the Agile teams delivery plans and Release plans on the program level and to stakeholders.
  • Ensure the team has a healthy product and Sprint backlog (in collaboration with the PO).
  • Measures team delivery, maturity, and performance and reviews the metrics with the team to identify improvement opportunities.
  • Enables the team to become high performing through collaboration and a relentless focus on continuous improvement.
  • Collaborates across the ART to create program level transparency, visibility, and drive commitment.
  • Takes on Senior Scrum Master Responsibilities to drive ART ceremonies, host PI Planning preparation and execution, supports the creation of a Program Backlog.
  • Assist with other responsibilities that help ensure success of the overall ART

Required Qualifications

  • SAFe Scrum Master Certification.
  • 5+ year experience of relevant experience required
  • Strong Communication skills
  • Ability to create JIRA queries and dashboards using JQL to assist and enable the team

Desired Qualifications

  • Scrum Master Certification (Ex: PSM-I or PSM-II or CSM) is preferred
