Job Description

Our Manufacturing Operations teams are the people that make our products. We work in the manufacturing plants with a "Safety First, Quality Always" mindset striving for continuous improvement. We work in the local plant connected to our global manufacturing network to ensure the highest quality of raw materials, intermediates and finished products.

This position will help execute multiple improvement initiatives for the Elkhorn Site included but not limited to Safety performance and coaching, identifying, leading and supporting continuous improvement projects within manufacturing and serving as the lead or coach for deployment and sustainment of Production Systems standards (i.e 5S, Tiers, Leader Standard Work, Value Stream Maps, etc.).

Responsibilities

Employee Development & Leadership

  • Models Company leadership principles and inclusive behaviors
  • Provides coaching and supports skills development and process capabilities within the team
  • Provides appropriate task-based training
  • Continue to develop yourself in lean, inclusion, and change management. With this knowledge, you develop colleagues at all levels in the organization by leading by example during improvement initiatives and coaching sponsors and stakeholders.

Safety Compliance

  • Demonstrates a strong compliance mind-set (EHS and Quality) and continuously sets a high standard for themselves and others
  • Follows safe operating procedures for all tasks and equipment
  • Ensures the right tools and equipment specified for the task are available and utilized
  • Ensures the correct personal protective equipment required is available and utilized
  • Follows up on any reported defects or workplace hazards immediately
  • Reports all accidents, incidents and near misses within 24 hours and participates in investigation and identification of effective corrective and preventative actions
  • Participate in safety PHA or MOC process (Management of Change) for the team

Quality Compliance

  • Change Manager and Stakeholder for change management activities within Production.
  • Supports the update, review and approval of GMP documentation including, but not limited to: SOP's | SPP's | Qualification Protocols | New product/product transfer documentation
  • Hands-on support for operational problems and cross-functional investigations by conducting thorough scientific problem-solving techniques.

Productivity and Financial

  • Initiate and implement improvement projects using Lean improvement tools (Standardization, 5S, Poke Yoke, Kaizens, Value Stream Mapping, Visual Management, etc.) to create flow and work smarter to improve performance, safety, quality, delivery, and cost.
  • Build and maintain strong collaborations with different stakeholders throughout the Site such as Operations, BTS, Engineering, Quality and R&D
  • Facilitate project teams and provide training.
  • Supports the Manufacturing Operations Teams in creating a culture of continuous improvement and leads by example
  • Represents Manufacturing Operations in the execution of the project portfolio and improvement initiatives
  • Supports initiatives for stabilizing and improving production processes
  • Assures effective application of Lean Six Sigma, Project Management and Change Management Tools
  • Supports Manufacturing Operations key productivity metrics by investigating and solving operations issues with appropriate techniques and skills
  • Contributing to a data driven decision making process and visualizing problems, progress and results
  • Recognizes and investigates opportunities for financial savings

Required Education:

  • High school diploma or equivalent

Required Experience and Skills:

  • 3-5 years of demonstrable work experience with continuous improvement in the following fields: biopharmaceuticals, manufacturing, or quality. Military service, coursework, and degrees may be considered in place of experience.
  • Experience in facilitating project teams or project management.
  • Result-oriented and able to manage many different tasks and projects.
  • Experience and insight into working with data, making trends visible, and performing data analysis.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, Project)
  • Team player with a "go-to-the-gemba" attitude, analytical & eager to learn.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with stakeholders.

Preferred Education, Experience and Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in project management, animal science, biology, engineering, or a relevant field.
  • Project Management Certification
  • Formal training in Lean
