Director, Stakeholder Engagement & Strategic Alliances

As an integral part of the U.S. government affairs team, the Director is responsible for working with government relations, public policy, business teams, and other company functions to develop and execute a strategy for alliance development and stakeholder engagement activities at the federal level.

The Director will help to develop and implement the U.S. alliance development strategy across key therapeutic areas and policy issues, ensuring that it is prioritized and managed for the long term, focuses on improving patient care, and is aligned with our Company's business objectives.

The Director is responsible for developing and maintaining strong relationships with key advocacy organizations that influence public policy, and educating external stakeholders about our Company's positions and strategic priorities. In conjunction with the senior policy team, the Director will advance our Company's relationships with external stakeholders, identify key external engagement opportunities on policy issues, and provide support for such engagements.

Location: Position is located in Washington D.C.

Primary Activities

Primary activities include, but are not limited to:

  • Proactively advance prioritized collaborative alliances with health care provider, patient, and other advocacy organizations in support of our Company's health policy agenda.
  • Lead routine engagement with advocacy organizations and other stakeholders, including identifying and developing an understanding of their health policy positions and goals, and exploring opportunities to align with our Company's policy and business strategies and plans for key milestones.
  • Create a core competence within the company in alliance management; build effective external relationships and capitalize on opportunities to shape the external business environment; effectively position our Company as a pharmaceutical partner of choice among collaborators.
  • Engage relevant internal stakeholders to ensure our Company's advocacy with public policy agencies and organizations is coordinated, consistent, and effective.
  • Represent our Company in industry and other external engagements through formal presentations to and other communications with relevant external stakeholders.
  • Manage compliance guidance and processes for policy-related grants and memberships and serve as the key point of contact for external organizations seeking support.

Position Qualifications:

Education Minimum Requirement:

  • BS/BA required.

Location/Commute:

  • Applicant must have ability to work from our Washington D.C site with up to 25% Travel (including International).
  • We offer Hybrid Work Model (combination of In-office & offsite/remote).
  • This position cannot be 100% remote.

Required Experience and Skills:

  • Minimum 8 years of experience in government relations, relationship/coalition management, and/or alliance development at the federal level.
  • Strong knowledge of health care public policy process, including understanding the roles and influence of various stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify strategic priorities, work within a matrix organization to bring together different internal stakeholders and develop and manage a project forward to resolution and action.
  • High degree of ethics and ability to build collaborative, effective working relationships both internally and externally.
  • Sound judgment, initiative, and the ability to work on multiple tasks in a face paced environment.
  • Excellent presentation, written, and oral communication skills required.

U.S. Hybrid Work Model

Effective September 5, 2023, employees in office-based positions in the U.S. will be working a Hybrid work consisting of three total days on-site per week, Monday - Thursday, although the specific days may vary by site or organization, with Friday designated as a remote-working day, unless business critical tasks require an on-site presence.This Hybrid work model does not apply to, and daily in-person attendance is required for, field-based positions; facility-based, manufacturing-based, or research-based positions where the work to be performed is located at a Company site; positions covered by a collective-bargaining agreement (unless the agreement provides for hybrid work); or any other position for which the Company has determined the job requirements cannot be reasonably met working remotely. The Company is required to provide a reasonable estimate of the salary range for this job in certain states and cities within the United States. Final determinations with respect to salary will take into account a number of factors, which may include, but not be limited to the primary work location and the chosen candidate's relevant skills, experience, and education.

Expected US salary range:
$181,600.00 - $285,800.00
