We are recruiting a Lead position within the Supply Chain Management team at our Company's manufacturing location in Durham. The Supply Chain Management (SCM) organization is responsible for planning of Drug Substance and Drug Product at the site. In addition, the team is responsible for the inventory management of incoming goods, including raw materials, product contact components, and primary packaging components. This leadership role is the key interface between Durham, global Supply Chain organizations and our internal and external network partners. The Director, Planning and Logistics will be responsible for leading the Logistics and Planning teams at Durham Site promoting the behaviors of Safety First, Quality Always as we reliably supply our products to meet customer needs.

The Director, Planning & logistics will work with the IPT Leaders driving end-to-end accountability and connection to customers and suppliers to optimize supply chain performance. The leadership style is one of collaboration, coaching and facilitating, promoting effective collaboration that ensures the maximum realization of benefits to the Supply Chain and our Customers, both internal and external to Durham.

Reporting to the Durham Supply Chain Management Lead, the Director, Planning & logistics will partner collaboratively and leverage the above site organizations such as EtE Supply Chain, Procurement, Global Logistics, Global and Digital Transformation organizations to ensure alignment of Supply Chain and Operations activities across our company's Manufacturing Division

Primary Responsibilities include:

Safety:

  • Support the site in achieving and sustaining a Proactive Safety Culture, including participation from the SCM Team in identifying hazards and act to proactively mitigate risks. Sponsor for Safety Committee goals, both at the department and site level.

Quality Compliance:

  • Responsible for self-identifying and addressing gaps from internal and external compliance expectations, including support during auditing of applicable systems
  • Ensure compliance with cGMP and other business compliance regulations

Reliable Supply:

  • Supports the End-to-End Operating areas in effective planning and inventory management to ensure reliable supply of our products to customers.
  • Leadership role in Supply Chain Key Performance Indicators, including visibility and problem-solving to reach established goals.
  • Key liaison for global Supply Chain and our Network partners, including facilitation of monthly site-to-site meetings and participation in supply event meetings as needed.
  • Responsible for S&OP at the site and the primary contact for above site S&OP
  • Manages a team of site warehousing and logistics professionals and is responsible for the Durham Site Logistics Operations, including material receipt, supply to production areas, all warehouse operations (including 3PL), shipping (domestic and export), foreign trade zone operation and reporting, trade compliance, and capital planning.

Budget Support:

  • The Director, Planning & logistics key liaison to global Supply Chain Management for the annual refresh of the Long-Range Operating Plan and the Strategic Asset Management.
  • Support Finance on key elements of annual Budget Development including refresh of product standards and workload.
  • Financial Stewardship: Annual operating plan, inventory management, cycle counts and control.

  • Responsible for coaching and mentoring of team members to support strong performance and professional growth.
  • Be a visible sponsor and ally for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, embedding the mindset within the organization
  • Develop an effective, focused and strong team by understanding: their abilities, unique contribution and broadening their skill set to be agile and prepared for any future business requirements. Provide your team with the tools and development opportunities (including educational assistance, job rotation, cross-functional training, MPS) to make them successful.
  • Responsible for driving a culture of Continuous Improvement by deploying MPS within the Supply Chain function on projects such as: Supply, Value Chain Management, problem solving, lead time reduction, lean principles within the process.

Required Attributes / Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Science, Engineering, Business, Supply Chain Management and/or related disciplines
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in a regulated environment such as Supply Chain Management, Manufacturing Operations, Quality, Science and Technology.
  • Candidate must be accomplishment oriented (self-motivated and persistent), possess a "business owner" mentality, possess the ability to influence without authority, and demonstrate the ability to effectively operate in an ambiguous/changing environment
  • Proficiency with SAP
  • Analytical thinker with strong oral and written communication/presentation skills
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver effective communications
  • Five (5) years of people management experience

Preferred Attributes / Skills

  • Demonstrated ability to integrate materials management and ERP data knowledge with a holistic understanding of manufacturing operations.
