Job Description: Director of Clinical Procurement for FSP

This role leads the global procurement category for Functional Service Provision (FSP) for our clinical research organization. The role manages a team of procurement professionals delivering this global category. In addition, the role manages the R&D procurement team based in China.

The Director will take an active leadership role in the development of procurement strategy, global category management, contract management, risk management, stakeholder management, and supplier value management within assigned categories. This individual will work in close partnership with the business to identify evolving needs to jointly determine high quality sourcing solutions to deliver significant business value.

Primary activities include, but are not limited to:

  • Leadership - As a Global Category leader in the Clinical spend area, the role is responsible to develop and implement sourcing strategies in alignment with the business and delivery of required business performance. Member of Clinical Development Sourcing & Procurement Leadership team. Build a high-performance engagement model with the business and regions.
  • Organizational Development - Manage a team of procurement professionals who have direct responsibility for sourcing, contracting and project delivery.
  • Process - Deliver sourcing management, supplier value management, risk management, supplier diversity and core sustainable processes and enablers of delivery.
  • Performance - Deliver critical functional business objectives as well as meeting the stakeholder business requirements. Closely work with clinical operations stakeholders and external service providers to ensure effective KPIs are implemented.
  • Relationships - Build strong relationships with both key leaders in R&D & also with external vendors.
  • Proactive Cost Management: Achieve cost control, cost reduction, and cost containment targets, and add value through a strong total cost orientation.
  • Change Management - Adopt high quality change practices with customers and stakeholders.
  • Global - Ensure that the category strategies enable usage across the world and where appropriate drive global strategies.
  • Diversity - Actively support diversity, both within our organization as well as expanding relationships and spend with Diverse Suppliers.
  • Vendor Management - Foster innovation and drive improvements in the value for our organization.
  • Sustainability - Champion sustainability initiatives & deliver year on year reported emissions reductions.

Education minimum requirement: Bachelor's degree. Concentrations in STEM or business preferred

Required experience and skills:

  • Minimum of 10 years professional experience
  • 4 years in services procurement or Clinical Research Organization Business Development or clinical research
  • People management experience
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills
  • Strong negotiation skills and ability to drive innovative procurement strategies
  • Ability to negotiate & agree complex contracts

Preferred experience and skills: Clinical procurement category knowledge preferred

Language requirement: Fluent in English

U.S. Hybrid Work Model

The Company is required to provide a reasonable estimate of the salary range for this job in certain states and cities within the United States. Final determinations with respect to salary will take into account a number of factors, which may include, but not be limited to the primary work location and the chosen candidate's relevant skills, experience, and education.

Expected US salary range:
$149,400.00 - $235,100.00
