Maven is looking for a self-motivated, quantitative thinker who will play a critical role in our financial strategy and processes as we scale. Maven’s finance function has broad exposure across the business and shapes strategic and tactical decisions through data-driven insights. This hire will lead our partnership with our R&D and Growth Orgs, supporting special projects to drive the company’s long-term strategic vision. You will manage the corporate side of our P&L, with a direct focus on ROI associated with the R&D and Growth Orgs, including measuring the efficiency of vendor investments, business case analyses, LTV:CAC, and retention metrics.
As a Corporate Finance Director at Maven, you will:
- Serve as the key financial thought leader for our corporate departments, with a focus on our R&D and Growth Orgs. Partner directly with our Chief Product Officer, SVP of Engineering and Chief Revenue Officer
- Become the finance expert on department-specific metrics, provide analytical rigor to align metric reporting cross-functionally
- Serve as an analytical partner ensuring a single-source of truth across departmental metrics. Develop business cases and scenario decision models to determine ROI on key tech investments and growth strategies
- Identify and execute innovative projects to drive infrastructure optimization aligned with company growth and customer demands.
- Deliver best-in-class market metrics on spend benchmarks and ratios to inform staffing decisions and forecasts
- Develop monthly, quarterly and annual budgets for each corporate function. Build and manage a rigorous monthly and quarterly BvA process, delivering financial results and analysis to respective department owners.
- Lead vendor spend reviews, identify cost-saving opportunities and support negotiations with key vendors and partners
- Collaborate cross-functionally to develop usable models that track activity and effectively capitalize / amortize R&D
We're looking for you to bring:
- 7+ years of financial experience, including:
- 2+ years of experience in banking, consulting or venture-capital/growth investment
- 2+ years leading revenue analysis, forecasting and insights reporting, at a growth stage company
- Preference for subscription-based revenue experience
- Familiarity and experience working with infrastructure vendors/providers including AWS, DataDog, Snowflake, etc
- Advanced Excel, GSheets, SQL and Looker skills & proficient in Netsuite and Salesforce reporting
- Experience and passion for SaaS and/or enterprise software business models and collaborating with SaaS engineering teams
- Detailed understanding of three statement financials including non-P&L drivers of changes in cash flows
- Experience with large data sets, including structuring (or improving the structure) of new data pools, identifying the optimal modeling tool and working cross-functionally to build models
- Experience leading regular executive presentations, including monthly and quarterly performance updates
- Ability to thrive in ambiguity and fast-paced environments with appropriate prioritization of competing priorities
- Strong analytical and communication skills, with the ability to dive into the details, communicate insights and drive decision making cross functionally, and zoom-out to provide executive-level insights
The base salary range for this role is $200,000-$240,000 per year. You will also be entitled to take part in our company bonus program, stock options and benefits. Individual pay decisions are based on a number of factors, including qualifications for the role, experience level, and skillset.
Maven embraces a flexible hybrid work model. Our teams primarily operate from Seattle, WA, San Francisco/Bay Area, CA, and the New York Metropolitan area, NY. For those in our New York City office, we encourage in-person collaboration by requiring team members to work onsite three days a week (Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday). This policy aims to balance remote work flexibility with the benefits of face-to-face interaction.
This role requires active work authorization in the US.
