The Team: Location Based Entertainment is a global team creating live experiences to inspire wonder in the next generation. Our goal is to enable unforgettable memories and strengthen consumer engagement with our brands. The LBE team manage the licensing process including; pitching, partner investment, project development and relationship management for Family Entertainment Centers, Traveling Exhibitions, Live Entertainment, Hospitality, Theme Parks and Experiential Retail. Our department is revenue generating, monetizing Mattel’s IP within the Location Based Entertainment industry.

The Opportunity: Mattel is currently seeking a 2025 Summer Undergrad Location Based Entertainment Intern in El Segundo, California. Primary responsibilities include supporting marketing asset and deck development, live event and market research, performance reporting, and more. Our internship program is driven by a single focus: to find our future leaders. We encourage interns to push boundaries because we want to see how far you might take us some day. We give you phenomenal managers, mentors and buddies to help you accomplish more than you would have thought possible. And we team you up with other interns because every great thing that comes out of Mattel is done as a team. 

We are seeking a highly motivated intern to join our team in. The internship runs 10-12 weeks and consists of three elements:

  • Individual: Day-to-day and special project responsibilities.
  • Group: Work in a cross-functional intern group on a project that will be presented to senior management at the end of the internship.
  • Networking: Various information sessions, field trips, meet & eat lunches with executives, and networking events.

What Your Impact Will Be:

  • Support creation of pitch decks and other materials.  
  • Researching Live Events and Location Based Entertainment projects to keep up to date with the market/industry and research for new business development opportunities.
  • Track and report on ticket sales and trends to compare and assess performance.
  • Communication skills to convey confidence, ease and enthusiasm when communicating with a variety of audiences. You communicate clearly, concisely, and with impact, using the right formats and methods to promote a free flow of information.
  • Proficiency in Photoshop and/or other photo editing programs.
  • Strong written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills with ability to work effectively with people at all levels.
  • Strong organizational, time management and prioritizing skills with the ability to juggle multiple projects and meet deadlines.
  • Self-starter with a proactive approach to work and the ability to work independently. 
  • Support marketing team by internally routing necessary assets for approval and compiling feedback.

Qualifications

What We’re Looking For:

  • Currently enrolled in an accredited college or university, graduating in 2026
  • Completion of some marketing or business classes or comparable experience
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills; both verbal and written
  • Proficient MS Office skills required, including Excel and Powerpoint
  • Strong quantitative/analytical skills required; ability to make recommendations based on data analysis
  • Business acumen
  • Self-starter, eager to learn and organized

The base hourly rate for this position is $24.00
