Job Description

The Opportunity: 

Mattel is seeking to hire an HR Lead supporting an employee base of 110 people in Germany and Austria (1 FTE) that lead Mattel’s business in DACH (Germany, Austria & Switzerland).  These  locations, supporting on the delivery of the people strategy, with the support of EMEA region centers of expertise in Talent and Comp & Ben. The HR organization globally is undergoing an exciting phase of transformation in becoming a true strategic partner and this opportunity requires a progressive, innovative, and commercially focused individual to help drive capability and build performance. The role requires a forward thinking and inspiring HR person who has experience across all people-related disciplines and a proven track record Business Partnering senior leaders. The successful individual will support key strategic processes and engagement projects whilst remaining operationally responsible for the delivery of HR services to the business 

What Your Impact Will Be: Your key responsibilities will be around

  • Support People Managers on policies, procedures, and employee relations issues at all stages of the employee experience cycle 

  • Build an HR function which delivers best in class service to employees 

  • Embed new processes, drive team capability and ensure high quality service delivery in payroll, operations and administration 

  • Manage Employee Relations activities and maintain a positive relationship 

  • Drive culture change initiatives to energize, excite and engage employees 

  • Actively participating in and embedding a culture of talent reviews, compensation, development and succession planning across the DACH organizations 

  • Oversee resourcing plan and strategy, driving diversity and inclusion in all talent activities 

  • Manage and deliver best in class inductions and onboarding activities across the team 

  • Collaborate and engage with the wider HR and business community to provide a responsive, consistent and forward-thinking HR service 

  • Identify and deliver HR initiatives that support business priorities and targets 

  • Support in the full recruitment process from sourcing, to interview and onboarding 

  • Support in the development and implementation of engagement activities 

  • Preparing legal documents such as hiring letters, and changes of contracts 

  • Tracking of probation, temporary staff dates, and managing sickness, maternity leave, holidays, time & attendance, among others 

  • Collecting and processing all input (salary changes, starters, leavers, payments & deductions, etc.) regarding the payroll cycle to ensure a correct and timely payment of wages cooperating with the Payroll Team 

  • Managing employees’ Benefit pack (insurances, etc). 

  • Ensure the relevant HR database is up to date, accurate and complies with legislation 

  • Promote and embed Mattel values in all aspects of the People agenda 

  • Manage the internal communications strategy across the team on all people related topics, driving solutions that enable open communication 

Qualifications

What We’re Looking For: 

  • University degree in Business Administration or relevant field (Psychology/Marketing) 
  • +7 years of experience working on HR related field position and ideally in a multinational environment 

  • Excellent communication, influencing and stakeholder management skills 

  • Commercial awareness and strong numerical / financial skills 

  • Gravitas, emotional intelligence, and intellectual dexterity to lead a function and advise a leadership team 

  • Strong operational focus and a high level of drive to get things done 

  • Open, honest, collaborative 

  • Possess the ability and interest to coach and develop a small and agile HR team 

  • Learning agility, global outlook 

  • Engaging and personable 

  • Solutions focused and positive mindset 

  • Degree level educated or educational equivalent 

  • Fluent German and English speaker 

  • Good knowledge of German employment law and Works Councils 

  • Demonstrated a growth mindset by staying curious and continuously learning, embracing challenges, and improving themselves.
