Senior Accountant

Overview: The Senior Accountant - Consolidations role will provide exceptional accounting services to Mastercard Worldwide as part of the Global Business Services Center (GBSC). The candidate will be responsible for delivering timely and accurate accounting services to our Mastercard Worldwide business units, including the financial month-end close process.

Role: Major Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Preparing various account analyses and reconciliations for Mastercard's global accounting activities.
• Specializing in consolidations, corporate transactions, entity structure change accounting, and assisting with tax entries.
• Researching and correcting account discrepancies.
• Performing footnotes and supporting schedules to ensure the integrity of quarterly SEC filings.
• Handling accounting for corporate transactions, including capital injections, dividends, and changes in legal entity structures.
• Partnering with technical accounting and controllership teams to support merger and acquisition accounting, including purchase accounting, OBS, and TB loads.
• Preparing and recording monthly general ledger journal entries in accordance with U.S. GAAP, supporting various business units, regions, and the corporate controller's group.
• Participating in process improvements to enhance accounting operational efficiency, quality of output, and optimize synergies.
• Performing various ad-hoc reporting, analysis, or projects as needed.

All About You: Education/Certification:
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
• Chartered Accountant (preferred).

Knowledge/Experience/Skills:
• Experience reviewing and analyzing work for appropriate accounting treatment.
• Experience performing basic issue resolution and gaining exposure to the resolution of complex issues.
• Strong focus on executing controls and assessing their effectiveness, with recommendations for improvement.
• Proactively building relationships with business partners.
• Knowledge of US GAAP and current accounting concepts.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Results-oriented with the ability to work under pressure and a structured approach to deliverables.
• Robust understanding of MS Excel and financial/ERP systems, preferably with direct experience in Oracle.
• Progressive accounting experience, preferably in a large, global environment.
• Prior experience in supporting business process transitions and process improvement projects.
• Capable of working within a changing environment with excellent analytical, planning, and organizational skills.
• Focused on achieving key outputs with a sense of urgency and professionalism.
• Able to adjust to changing processes and systems, demonstrating agility in adapting to new accounting systems and procedures.
