Overview
As the Director, MTS EU HUB /EMEA Controller, this role will lead the MTS EU/EMEA Controllership team to ensure that the legal entities (operating units) are controlled in accordance with US GAAP and local reporting standards as well as the Sarbanes Oxley Act.

Further, this role will also be responsible for managing the statutory audits for the MTS EU HUB/EMEA entities. The MTS EU HUB /EMEA Controller will be responsible for overseeing statutory audit, accounting and book-keeping, Legal Entity rationalization, tax support, Regulatory reporting support and other Controllership activities in his/her respective legal entities, implementing any operational changes, and delivering measurable improvements.
This role will ensure a strong internal control environment, be familiar and adhere to all Mastercard policies and processes that mitigate risks for the Company, function, and department.
Role
• Responsible for leading all aspects of local statutory financial reporting, management reporting, accounting and generation of metrics to guide strategic decision making.
• Specific focus on the financial reporting within the EU HUB/EMEA entities including the financial accounting of revenue, contra revenue and expenses. This will include the review of month end closing activities related to inputs into Oracle from the platforms, analysis, reporting of key variances, resolving any gaps in the process leading to variances & ensuring the month end process is timely completed.
• Oversee all the processes and inputs from various platforms to Oracle (leading to correct financial reporting).
• Play an integral role & lead the external audit of each applicable legal entity to ensure that the financial statements of these are accurate and free of material misstatement; that they are filed on a timely basis and that the external audit reports are unqualified.
• Ensures a strong control environment by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing operational and financial controls based on corporate guidelines and general governance standards.
• Partner with External Consultants, Regional Support groups (MTS Tax, Legal, Regulatory teams) and global Shared Services Center ("GBSC") to provide advisory support to the business teams in regard to accounting and controls.
• Lead and analyze the accounting implications of setting up new legal entities (LE)/closing of any legal entities in the EU HUB/EMEA geographies in line with MasterCard processes and standards. This role will closely work with Business owners, Legal, Tax, Regulatory, Compliance teams to execute the LE rationalization.
• Collaborate with the relevant regional teams to ensure ongoing compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements; anticipated future legislations that may impact filing financial reports.
• Manage the third parties involved in supporting and ensuring compliance with local statutory reporting requirements and continually assesses the optimal use of third parties.
• Lead & manage the accounting of intercompany transactions between the parent and group companies and the local company in collaboration with the Tax team, i.e. Transfer pricing, Loan arrangements, dividend repatriation, cost plus arrangements, etc. Ensure the accounting is correct as well as that the corresponding agreements/documentation are retained per local regulations.
• Oversight of the Bank account Reconciliation process, Bank account administration and Controllership related AP Payments in coordination with Corporate Treasury and the GBSC. Ensure strict compliance with the Central Bank requirements for currency controls on international transactions.
• Support the MTS Controller with MTS-wide controllership initiatives, for example:
Streamline the Settlement Asset & Obligation classification for MTS EU HUB
One HubNew system project: support system implementation and assess accounting impact.
Transfer Pricing: Model enhancement
Enhancement, documentation & management reporting of the accounting processes
Support the enhancement in the reconciliation process
Contra: implementation of quarterly contra meetings and enhancement to process
Training business teams on controllership policies,
Assist ad hoc projects or analyses as required from time to time,
Strive for excellence in all areas and drive continuous business process and systems improvements
All About You
• Education: Master degree in Finance, Accounting or a related field with a professional accounting qualification such as an ACA
• Experience: Extensive experience in finance, accounting, external audit, internal audit, or a related field.
• Technical Skills: Proficiency in risk management software, Excel, data analysis, and reporting tools. Knowledge of Oracle, SAP, Enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems and Hyperion.
• Analytical Skills: Strong ability to analyze data, identify trends, and assess risks and controls.
• Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills for preparing reports and delivering presentations to senior management and stakeholders.
• Problem-Solving: Ability to proactively identify issues, assess potential risks, and develop solutions.
• Attention to Detail: Ability to manage complex data and ensure thoroughness in control assessments and documentation
• Team player and leader: ability to a good team player and work with people across different functions and a track record of being able to effectively lead and motivate a team.
