Overview
In addition to our traditional payments portfolio, Mastercard is aggressively expanding into new payment flow and leveraging the digital and connected world of people and economies to deliver faster, reliable and more efficient propositions to make payments - send or receive money.

The Cross Border program is part of the wider Disbursement & Remittances business that we are looking to expand at a compounded rate of 50% per year for the next 5 years. We are building solutions to enable payments in an any-to-any format - anyone, anywhere can send or receive money using any channel - money exchanges, banks, digital wallets, cards or fintech apps - providing a seamless and unified experience for both individuals and business to move money.

We are looking for a passionate, innovative and experienced engineers with a proven track record in leading the evolution of software products and their implementation in various markets - comfortable both working hands-on as well as guiding and mentoring a team of engineers and critically always challenging the status quo and pushing and driving the technology roadmap to ensure that the solutions leverage technology to the maximum extent

As the Director, you will be responsible for leading the engineering function for your domain and driving engineering excellence across all aspects of delivery. You are the technology lead and the domain owner deciding the fate of your domain.

As a Director, Software Engineering at Mastercard, you will be expected to perform the following general duties:
- Manage a team of highly skilled engineers and deliver software development projects using agile methodologies
- Own the technology outcomes for your domain.
- Responsible for all the technical and operational metrics and accountable to ensure that the services are delivering the intended business and technology benefits
- Own the lifecycle and ensure that solutions align to Mastercard architecture and engineering principles
- Own the experience of your domain - to your teams, to your stakeholders and partners and to your customers
- Ensure team delivers high quality code while you contribute to key components code reviews and code authoring
- Define and help implementing the NFRs to meet the operational parameters of the platform
- Define and implement systems and processes to ensure fast and error-free release of features and capabilities
- Support & actively collaborate with your product counterparts in ensuring the product propositions continue to evolve and meet both business and technology imperatives

About You
- Experience in design and development of enterprise-grade scalable and resilient software solutions
- Experience in different architecture patterns - REST architectures, Event-driven architectures and a deep understanding of microservices and domain-driven principles
- Expertise in Agile and DevOps - with proven track record in delivering solutions using these principles
- Strong knowledge of software development principles, design patterns, and best practices.

- Operate with urgency, fairness and decency to address challenges and solve for new opportunities.
- Capable of working under pressure - navigating complex initiatives, competing priorities and customer requirements.

- Experienced in agile and SDLC practices
- Strong passion for innovation and new technologies
- Experience mentoring and developing resources in a high performance culture
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Has skills to succinctly articulate architecture patterns of complex systems, with business and technical implications, to executive and customer stakeholders
- Has experience in leading and coaching teams to perform software planning and estimation for large scale complex programs using metrics driven constructs
- Strong leadership and people management skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to quickly learn and implement new technologies, frameworks, and tools.
- Budget and financial management experience.
