The Role

Reporting to our Director of Quality Operations, we are seeking to add a Technical Specialist to be based in Toronto or Vancouver to execute technical and innovation projects at an operational level to ensure startups go to plan and all quality and operational standards are delivered. This role works closely with the Canadian and International Corporate QA/QC team, production planning, and product development to improve production operations across co-packers. You will travel up to 50% of the time within Canada to visit co-packer facilities, suppliers.

- Deliver improvement of daily production operations at Co -Packers in such a way that progress is visible on a quarterly basis in QA dashboard
- Ensure that the Manufacturing Supply Services Agreements are consistently implemented at Co-Packers in the area of all manufacturing services
- Responsible to design and test Continuous Improvement Programs at Co-packers striving for quantifiable process improvements in safety, quality, and cost
- Supervise the implementation of these CI programs which is carried out by the TS team
- Identify capital needs throughout the brewery/distillery network with specific focus on process and product innovation
- Identify and qualify new production facilities to optimize production footprint
- Perform audits of Co-Packers, Re-packers, and warehouses/3PLs at the frequency defined in the auditing program
- Participate in the innovation production requirements, such as preparation of first run documentation, and attending first runs on site for observation and oversight
- Review on-hold items and collaborate with co-packers to determine disposition
- Manage NCRs of Co-Packers, Re-Packers, and warehouses to determine root causes, and ensure appropriate actions are taken to reduce future errors
- Review customer complaints for trends and coordinate with Co-Packers accordingly to identify affected products and additional risk
- Assist in development of internal SOPs to improve efficiency and effectiveness of MAG Quality Operations
What You'll Bring:
- Minimum 5 years progressive experience in brewing industry/distilling industry with strong manufacturing knowledge
- Completed Bachelor's Degree (Science/Engineering) from a recognized institution
- Experience with Quality Management Systems is required
- Food Safety Certification is preferred
- Familiarity with Standard Operation Procedures (SOP)
- Effective business systems thinker and a good understanding of business process knowledge
- Demonstrated ability to deal effectively with others in a diverse environment
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects at one time
- Strong stakeholder management focus
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Proficient with personal computers and business applications
