Mission of the Position

Works with the mechatronics system group for vehicle calibration, testing, and system support. This group focuses on software definition/calibration, data collection and analysis. The co-op position will help the group optimize the control strategy and ensure the vehicle performs as desired on actual production programs.

Team Summary:

The mechatronics system group conducts integrated vehicle level system verification testing in support of new product launches, current product improvements or new product development. They work with customer requirements, sub-system, and component designs capabilities to provide robust controls specifications. These specifications can be implemented in mechanical and electrical hardware and software controls. They help define the requirements of new test methods and/or procedures; may be responsible for the design, layout, and fabrication of custom test equipment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Participate in using standardized testing methods and practices to perform vehicle and system level testing and data analysis.
  • Develop, document, and verify software strategies through simulation, calibration, and vehicle evaluation.
  • Supports and adheres to policies, procedures, and operational guidelines related to established quality management system (IATF 16949).
  • Maintains working knowledge of safety policies and regulations to ensure duties of self and others are performed in a safe manner.
  • Additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.
  • Expected Learning Outcomes:
    • Working knowledge of data acquisition tools
    • Exposure to simulation and analysis with Matlab
    • Hands on experience in 4WD/AWD and vehicle mechatronic systems

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Minimum 3.0 GPA strongly preferred.
  • Enrolled in an engineering program with an accredited school.
  • Understand the basics of engineering theory and principles of design
  • Knowledge in computer based software, strong organizational/communication skills, and ability to work with others in a team environment.

Work Environment

Office environment; minimal travel required.

While working in this environment, the employee will be exposed to machinery, moving equipment and material, moderate noise, airborne particles, fumes and various levels of temperature created by manufacturing processes.
